| You don't think that some kids are just hyper and/or easily distracted? It seems to be similar to throwing anti-depressants at anyone who isn't as adept at dealing with sadness/disappointment/etc. It's not that mental disorders don't exist, it's that many of them are vastly over-diagnosed. |

| ^ Absolutely. There's actually a massive Adderall shortage right now across the country. There's no official reason being offered, but the most popular theory is that since it is a controlled substance, the DEA allows only a certain amount to be made each year. Given the overwhelming increase in Adderall scrips being given out, that limit has been reached, and no more will begin to be produced until January. It is far too liberally thrown about. |

So, go and see a doctor. You live in a country where like that is so incredibly easy to get, it's just not funny (or, it's incredibly funny, depending on which way you look at it :p) |

| I know a lot of people here who have lied their way into benzo prescriptions too. IT'S AN EPIDEMIC |

I'm not opposed to the idea of having children, I just don't have any interest in them whatsoever, or am remotely excited by the idea. I have more excitement about the idea of one day having my own dog - I sometimes think about what breed I'd have, what gender, one or two, even put thought into how I'd raise them. I imagine these are the kind of thoughts that people who are genuinely excited about having kids have about their future offspring. Likewise, when I meet someone's dog, particularly a puppy, I'm incredibly fussy over it and it gives me a warm glow inside. Whenever people have come around with a baby, everyone else might be cooing over it but I am utterly unmoved. It's just a baby. My only emotion towards young children is occasional worry, that I might scare the baby and make it cry, and perhaps implant some life-long phobia or neurosis in its nascent mind as a result.
My over-riding response to the question is usually "If it would make my partner happy", but perhaps I shouldn't have kids because I probably wouldn't show them enough love, and them up as a result of that. |

I'm really undecided. A baby's cry drives me up the wall. Only thing is I'm the last one to carry on my name... My luck I'd have all girls since I been around electronics just about half my life now. |
Pretty much the same thing here. I used to avoid kids like i avoid cats (because im allergic), woudnt be caught dead in the same room with one if i could help it. But ever since ive had to deal with my sisters kid, ive softened up a bit.
Though i still outright refuse to be in the same area code, when its time to change the little bastards diapers. |

The difference is that you appear ready to jump to whatever conclusion makes you feel better without any evidence, whereas I only went so far as to opine that it was interesting that so many kids seemed fine without these medications. |

I think that people who think that way are absolutely the ones that should have kids, because if they're genuinely concerned about accidentally ing them up, then they actually have the capacity to worry about them enough not to. |
