I'm writing a post about it for a thread specifically about religion. If you wait a minute, I'm sure you'll have plenty to talk about with Egos and me :D

Troll, certainly. And a darn good one.

As far as "extremist," I doubt that there are words sufficient to describe the willful stupidity of applying that term to him.

Horrible news. :(
Absolutely gutted about this. I knew it was coming but it doesn't make it any easier..

Good night, Hitch. You are irreplaceable in my eyes.

been a lot of funny reading from Gervais' twitter today.

For Hitchens to have been an extremist his opinions have had to be: "far outside the perceived political center of a society; or otherwise claimed to violate common moral standards."

Maybe for the majority of Americans he was, but not by European standards. Conveying the truth should never be considered extremist, no matter how controversial.

Unless you're using a definition other than the one found in the dictionary, Hitchens was an extremist of sorts. As for conveying the truth, which I find unacceptable in his case even though I'm an atheist myself... that's tough nut to crack, so I'll just postpone this debate to the thread I mentioned earlier.

Edit: Got a better link to a more comprehensive list of definitions.

Ahh, so anybody who expresses unpopular views is an "extremist?" I guess that clears things up.
Redd
are you from the states, or was it Brazil?
