What an awful movie.

This hadn't crossed my mind, but so true :stongue:

I didn't take that away from any of the trailers at all... It was made fairly clear throughout the entire marketing process that the movie was primarily a story about discovery, with a short climax at the end. Either I'm better able to read between the lines than a lot of people, or I totally missed the parts of the trailer that made it seem like an exciting movie.

I got EXACTLY what I was expecting from this movie (well no , since the main trailer was essentially the entire movie in a nutshell), and I'd give it a 7.5/10.
pkcRAISTLIN
thought it was pretty terrible. posed more questions than it answered, had only 1 interesting character (the android), hardly any tension, was just bored for most of it. it looked nice though.
enydo
I agree with mr. pkc 100%.

I started wanting all the characters to die shortly after the beginning.

saw it last night. again, posed more questions and that final chase scene with the alien ship falling and the stupid bitches didn't just run left or right....come on!

a couple of other logical problems (space helmets can survive a terrible storm throwing metal at them, but can't survive one hit by charlie?).

biggest question of all, I guess...why did david screw everything up?

also, I'm assuming that the Engineers were planning on going to Earth to release the black oil stuff (re: x-files)....but they never made it....

but then, if they never made it, how were there six drawings across thousands of years that would "invite" them to come to that planet that they were stuck at?

some cool special affects and the killer vagina squid at the end was hillarious. :stongue:

also, what was it the engineer drank at the very beginning of the movie? was it the black tar?

Yeah, death by a giant croissant was a bit daft.

Because Weyland told him to 'try harder'.

Yes, but things went up for them.

No idea, hopefully this will be answered in the sequels.

Unknown, but whatever it was, it was definitely what kick started our existence on Earth. Whether this was accidental or not is another question.

SPOILERS

As it's been explained to me, the black ooze is both living and sentient. Moreover, supposedly the black ooze constitutes some primordial / undeveloped form of the Aliens we've all come to know from previous films, i.e. these:

The first 'alien' was possibly the one that Elizabeth Shaw had surgically removed, while the 2nd one appeared toward the end of the film, emerging from the body of the über-human, or whatever.

Some questions...

Was the alien that Shaw more or less gave birth to actually killed within the medical chamber that she locked it in, or did it actually survive and re-appear at the end of the film as the giant killer Galgamek vagina?
They briefly allude to an extremely rapid growth rate when it's first revealed that she is pregnant.

Also, they mention that the special medical pod is calibrated for males only. Assuming Charlize Theron's character is indeed female, was the pod essentially intended for Weyland?

I imagine that the events of this movie lead to the Japanese corporation buying out, or merging with Weyland Industries. Supposedly, it's that company which is linked to the discovery of the Predator race, so if that's any indication of where the sequels are headed, perhaps we can expect them to be a bit more entertaining.

It struck me that Fifield's rampage when 'he' returned to the ship included more than a few similarities with many of the Predator attacks in their movies. So it will be interesting to see if that was foreshadowing the rise of the Predator race in the coming sequels :p

http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1446714/

I'm only just now taking a look at the IMDB page for the film, after having seen it. You can see right under the title that the first word is 'Action' followed by 'Horror'. The movie was neither of these things. So my next question would be as to whether or not it was the production company that submitted those génre labels to IMDB.

I ING HOPE NOT.

I'm sure it wont, actually. For one, he would know this would totally ruin everything, ever.

Mr. Blake - Yes, the biological weapon is an evolutionary process, much in line with the general theme of the film. The 'weapon' will eventually (hopefully over the course of the two more films) evolve into the Xenomorphs that everyone knows, loves and dreams about having sex with one day.

The alien Shaw removed wasn't killed, although it appeared so (as intended) it actually decided to ignore the cold stuff and turn into a giant, aggressive vagina instead.

As for the medical pod, yeah, this was meant for Weyland, hence why it had no ing clue what a caesarian was.... and why his daughter had it in the escape pod.
