Not thrilled about the venue at all, but willing to give it a second shot for these two.

i dont know if this a good or bad concept for the music...college tour...underground music...

This would be a solid Birthday party for me in Toronto on that day if I wasn't already away, not to upset though I feel Sonar will be better, mainly due to the venue choice

It will be interesting to see how they promote this.

I have never been to The Hoxton either, but I might have to check this out. Hawtin, Dice and Craig is a serious line-up.

The venue itself isn't great but also isn't terrible. Sound isn't spectacular but it's doable. Drinks are pricey but on par with the Maison/Cube type places. My biggest problem is the crowd.

You know how they always say you need to finish your antibiotics even though you're feeling better? The reason is because if you do only part of the full cycle then you might be leaving some of the strongest bacteria that was able to survive the initial attack. You are essentially left with the worst of the worst, the strongest of the strongest. They can come back, multiply and do way more damage than the initial ones. Apply that same concept to hipsters in Toronto, and you have the crowd at the Hoxton.

I'm hoping these tickets are priced out of their range and that they aren't down with techno.

Hahaha wow, that's quite the metaphor. Hopefully, the DJs performing attract a different than usual crowd. I saw Mark Farina at The Hoxton last year. The place was less than half full (it's a pretty large venue) with cool people and the music was amazing.

The only other two times I've stepped foot inside The Hoxton, the sound was out-of-control loud and I left within three minutes following arrival. It wasn't exclusively the crowd that left me unimpressed on those two occasions, but rather everything about the venue.

With that being said, I'll still go to see Richie and friends, if I'm in Toronto.

Except you don't actually get Queen West Toronto hipsters at the Hoxton though, or at least that's my take is. You get the 905 suburbanites that want to party like pseudo-hipsters on queen west for the night because its just so darn cool. Like, instagram cool.

15 bucks for Hawtin, Craig and Loco Dice? That's worth suffering at a ty venue, at that price. Even if Hawtin is largely irrelevant.
