Yeh I went once and it was 'meh'. sound is pretty bad but if it's only $15 I'm in like sin
GGM
For $15 I suppose I can put up with a few of these...

Dior Homme
Why do you people keep saying its a bad venueor something similar? The place is small and intimate, it has nice hardwood, little VIP and tables/ seating. Washrooms are good and clean, bar is easily accessible and the dj booth placed dead center in at the end.

The dj booth is nice and elevated that looks very industrial. Sound system is okay but we'll see how it'll be that night. I don't think its that bad at all. You guys relax about venues. It could be worse.

It could be better though. I agree, on paper it seems like a decent place, I've just never had a good time, can't pinpoint exactly why but somethings off. Kinda like Maison, it just doesn't work.

High ceiling, long room, sound echoes..sound restrictions because of people living in the area.

Okay so the sound isn't the greatest, I get the importance of that. But why is it a horrible place? Hipsters? I can say that about wrongbar.

The hipsters won't come unless its being promoted too. And if people knew why they are coming, then the hipsters won't be in full force.

I really like the space otherwise, it's not a bad place at all and the crowd is usually good.

If the whole reason you're going is for the music then the sound can ruin every night

So, its a horrible-not-worthwhile place to be because of sound only... so now that's the reason.

Does Maison have a better sound system? I think it has a partial Funktion1 no? Is that a better place to have a dj play? Maybe, but it seems like the people here complain about the crowd as well.

Hmm, maybe there's just no pleasing you guys.

I bought my tickets; but I agree that the Hoxton is lacking as a venue:

- The sound is weak; There are a couple sweet spots within 10 feet of the DJ booth, but otherwise woefully underpowered, which tries to compensate with piercing highs; The sound at the back is low and echo-y and you feel 'removed' from the party.

- Cigarette billboards: Huge billboards projected on the walls. Eyesores. This isn't up at every event but we will see.

It's hard to pinpoint exactly what is wrong with the Hoxton; It just feels like they did the bare minimum to this place in terms of decor lighting, and sound, in order to make a profit. It feels 'cold' and plain, but without the 'character' that other places have.

That being said, I have had some decent times there. It would really help if they open up the back of the DJ booth to people
