Well, its good but not perfect.

Much cooler than Ibiza but comfortable enough to go to the beach. When i went this past January it was like 50/50 Cloudy/Sunny every day. Didn't even get a tan to tell you the truth. BPM is starting a week later this time around so hopefully that'll help.

I would say the average high was like 75 and the low was 65.

Just discovered him about a year ago. So he is new to me. Has he played in LA since 2011?

i believe he's only been using the MACEO PLEX alias since late 2010 (i could be wrong). I didn't know him til he came out with "SLEAZY E".

He also goes by Maetrik as well. I love his sound right now. I'm hoping he makes his way to LA soon.

That lineup is ridiculous. This is one festival on my radar. I must go one year.

EVERYTHING at BPM is WAYYYYYYYYY cheaper than Ibiza/Vegas/WMC.

Hotels, drinks, bottle service (starting at $120), food, you name it. Its all super cheap in Playa Del Carmen. There are no big money megaclubs like vegas/ibiza/miami so there really isn't jacked up pricing on drinks or bottle service.

Also, 2 out of the 3 available day parties during BPM are completely free, in fact most people brought their own booze because it was literally on the beach.

There are also individual tickets for all events, and the ones that sell out still sell tickets at the door. Unless your planning on going for more than 6 days, i would avoid getting the 10 day wristband.

FYI - Its not a festival with a bunch of stages. Just one promoter controlling the music talent at 3-4 venues during the day and at night.

Hope that helps.

I concur. Easily the least expensive festival around. Everything is dirt cheap over there and the women are unbelievable.

A new twist to next year's event. There will be no free parties going forward into 2013. But even with that, Digweed on the beach last year was only $25 - a tremendous value.

I recommend the VIP pass, like you, if you're staying longer than 6 days, like us. It's great to party hop from venue to venue. An example from last year - Went from Wolf & Lamb, to Gaiser, back to Soul Clap, closed it out with Richie Hawtin. We party hopped the whole time there.

One clarification, though. The parties are run by the DJ's label (e.g. Desolat, M_nus, Sci-Tec, Crosstown Rebels, etc) not a promoter.

The highlight of the festival is the Rebel Rave party @ Alux Cave (although Lawler played my favorite set the whole time there, go figure.) Yes, you read it right. It's in an actual cave with stalagmites and stuff. An interesting venue, it looks to be part of an old Mexican cenote' and it gets hot as eff in there, but so worth it. Damian Lazarus, Jamie Jones, and Art Department (this coming year, I think Troxler is going to join them). An amazing time, no doubt.

As a good buddy of mine once said, "BPM stands for: By Pass Miami"

ha! I ate dinner at the Alux Cave. Pretty cool...
I was in PDC just before BPM for NYE a couple years ago. I really wanted to stay.
Would love to go this year but I really can't convince anyone to go...still some time!

Would so love to go to that, but my work has a mandatory PTO blackout policy for the month of January. Unless I find another job, I will miss going to this event.

I'm kind of in the same boat with my job :(

Steve Angello on BPM's facebook page: "It's been great to play the BPM Festival the last few years but due to scheduling conflicts, I can't make it this year to the festival. I hope to see you guys next year! - SA

he's been officially removed from the lineup.

Now everyone should be happy.
