What i said is true, go on youtube if you want, & search out Daft Punk songs, they sound like French Disco Urban House, not electronic tho. Daft Punk name has never has been associated electronic music, their name is associated with "EDM", when they got sampled, that is when they got "big".
Here some videos with Daft Punk songs, this is what you would call "Electronic" music, but to me it sounds more like cheesy French Urban Disco House, not Electronic.

I agree that the coachella performence, & later the Kanye West version of there song (which came out the next month & wa smeant for a Urban audience to help them crossover) was promotion/buzz for their Daft Punk album, I have no doubt in that, it is all business, including most of the press.
The buzz was manufactured because they were the sign that "EDM" arrived, "EDM' was the westernized version of electronic music, there following consisted of the same people who were listening to "Barbie Girl", & "Around The World" LOL. if you know electronic music you know that daft Punk aint that.
The Kanye West song supposedly came about was that ATrak, who is a urban turntablists who made songs like "Barbara Streisand", & "Big Bad Wolf" who was never apart of the elctronic scene & cant ever talk on Electronic music either , he suggested to Kanye to make the song.
If you notice now ATrak is a "EDM" dj now, & guess who he sites for electronic music? Daft Punk (Like they are in buisness together, if you like you will see ATrak does buisness with lots of French House acts, but he never knew what electronic music was in 2007, he just heard of it, that is what is called a buisness move for the North American music industry.
