Daft Punk were popular long before Kanye West sampled their song. What Kanye did was just give them crossover exposure to other genres. They were big LONG before Kanye worked with them.

From Wikipedia:

Daft Punk reached significant popularity in the late 1990s house movement in France and met with continued success in the years following, combining elements of house with synthpop.[1][2][4]

Reference from Homework - 1997 Album

Homework is the debut studio album released by French electronic music duo Daft Punk in January 20, 1997. Considered a blend of house, techno, acid, funk and occasionally hip-hop, its success brought worldwide attention to French progressive house music and incited interest in French touch music, as several touch artists gained influence from Homework's style.[5] According to The Village Voice, the album revived house music and broke free from the "Euro[dance] formula".

And now, a definition of "Electronic Music"

Electronic music is music that employs electronic musical instruments and electronic music technology in its production. In general a distinction can be made between sound produced using electromechanical means and that produced using electronic technology

Clearly, all of Daft Punk's music is electronic in nature. There are no instruments in the world that can make sounds that they use in their productions. While it might not fit in with what you define as electronic music, that doesn't change the fact that it is.

Aqua is the producer, Barbie Girl is the song. Stop making yourself look stupid by using examples that don't make any sense. Even this should technically be considered electronic music, as it uses electronic instruments in it's production, and really is just an evolution of the "dancier" parts of techno music, and through natural evolution came to be what it was.

In Closing: Stop being so damn jaded about your opinions of electronic music. It's a lot more vast than you seem to realize, and there's nothing wrong with disliking some of it. Just because you don't like it doesn't mean it shouldn't be classified as what you like.

To the normal folk of TA: I know I'm feeding a troll, but I found this fun. Leave it at that :)

LOL at copying a Wiki page, that is funny, but read what it says, Daft Punk is considered House/French Touch (didn't i call their music French Urban Disco House?, the wiki even says they revived Euro, House. How could they revive House, when House is black music from Chicago, that has nothing to do with Euro, or Daft Punk?

Daft Punk has lots of sounds from this world, mostly sampled disco riffs with filters, they are very basic actually, & it is not electronic, it is French Urban Disco House.

You admit that Daft Punk crossed over (got more popular) because Kanye sampled them right? Before Kanye sampled them & gave them "credit", they were popular for songs like "around the world" & "1 more time", basically they were popular for making cheese europop music, not electronic.

Aqua is akin to Daft Punk like "Barbie Girl" is akin to "Around The World". Aqua, & Daft Punk are both cheesey euro producers, that pretend they are djs even, & Barbie Girl" & "Around The World" are 2 cheesy euro songs from 1997

Techno is black dance music, so Aqua cannot make Techno since Techno is from Detroit, & black, Aqua is cheesy Euro that has nothing to do with Techno, or electronic, it is cheese Euro, like Daft Punk.

I am not the jaded one in this conversation, that is the Daft Punk fan club doing that. You can classify electronic music how you want, but I do not classify like you because you are incorrect, I classify electronic music correctly, down to the linage, & Daft Punk is not part of that linage of electronic music, they are cheesy Euro.

What is there not to take serious? Let me ask you, & others, when did you get into Electronic music? & Do you know its linage? If you do not then why do you talk about things you do not know?

I don't know why you come into threads to post stupid pictures, & talk about your imaginary friends. If you want to talk to "nick" go make a thread for him, do not talk your code language, or post stupid pics in this thread. If you want to talk on the topic at hand go ahead, if not be a spectator.

What more proof do you need to show they are a cheesy Euro group from the 90s like Aqua?

Looks like you, & your troll friends do not have any counter points to my facts, & have now resorted to posting pictures, instead of talking on the topic, because you do not have the knowledge, or mental aptitude to do it.

LOl, why would you post in here anymore after you could not form a response to me? Where did Techno come from? LOL you didn't even know it is black music inspired by Electronic music, & that it had nothing to do with Americans (outside of black ones).
