Bad news for Logic users?......

Logic already doesn't work correctly on the new OSX. Try using a spectrum analyzer. The program will stall for 10-30 seconds. Apple's focus is optimizing their systems for 14 year-old girls browsing facebook, not professional users. |

....but you'd have to be an absolute ing muppet to run Lion for any pro audio purposes.
And seeing as the New Mac Pro has already been confirmed, that's not exactly true. |

I can't wait for people to drop $3,000.00+ on a brand new mac pro only to realize that new Apple OS is a joke. It does not function correctly what so ever when you use Logic. Very sad considering the one before Lion was perfect and Logic worked really well on it. |

I got the latest OS and logic runs fine without a problem. |

That was fixed in the latest Logic update. Logic works beautifully in Mountain Lion.

Jim Dalrymple claims falsehood and he has excellent sources within Apple. |

Well, actually, Logic does work OK on Lion but even the pro team admitted that certain bugs they thought had been addressed in the last update did not work in Lion.
So even though Logic does run OK on Lion, it runs perfectly on Snow Leopard.
Also, Snow Leopard is actually more efficient than Mountain Lion for CPU intensive tasks such as audio production, so if your primary function is to run logic, then you better do a nice fresh install of Leopard. |

and 3rd party plugins. A long list that don't work. |

Snow Leopard was perfect.
And yes, I am exaggerating about Lion, but there are real problems when you use plugins with graphics. They tried fixing it, but the fix only masks the issues really. Also, I swear the CPU is not as efficient in Lion.
The fact the other people have not noticed the faults of Logic in Lion makes me wonder what they're actually doing when they're "producing". |

From David Nahmani, who is affiliated with Apple's Logic team:
What happened was that during the transition from Apple distributing Logic through conventional retail channels to distributing it exclusively in the Mac App Store, Apple laid off the Logic sales teams. Those teams' role was to place the Logic boxes in stores (Guitar Center, Sam Ash etc..), check the location and presentation of the product in the store, create in-store promotional events, etc... all things that Apple will no longer need in the future since the move to the Mac App Store.
The Pro Audio development and management teams are still alive and kicking. |

Regarding Lion, I took my HD in to get replaced and the idiots at the Apple Store upgraded my OS for me, so I have been using it and I can confirm it is in fact a piece of . In fact I will likely be downgrading to 10.6.8 in the near future.
There was a MAJOR interface glitch that was fixed in 9.1.8., however, it didn't improve any other performance issues, only fixed that critical bug. So it was pointless. Lion itself is still very poor performance wise.
As of right now, Snow Leopard 10.6.8 is still accepted to be the most stable OS to run with Logic 9.
One thing I would speculate is that these performance issues w/ Logic 9 and Lion likely don't exist if you were to pick up a brand new Mac from the Apple store though. |
