As I've said, I need folders. Having my music in a really long list (or different playlists) just depresses me. And yes I know Itunes has a search function and tags but it's not the same.

I thought it sorted files according to their respective paths, but apparently it doesn't.

I've officially run out of ideas :p

Did you even read my previous post? Like, if you've did any googling you'd see there's stuff out there, like the Zune I linked. Apparently they're being discontinued but it's not like you need ongoing support with a basic mp3 player.

I did, but apparently you didn't read mine:

and Microsoft have given up making their players.

Keep chiding me though, see how that works out.

Some of the Yale courses seem to be good, so far.

As far as specifics, anything to do with writing, philosophy and humanities in general.

I'd rather you recommend some good ones than sift through what seems like an endless amount of them.

:)

Also, any good podcasts similar to the TEDTalks one would be awesome.

There are loads of good philosophy courses from Berkeley university (my favourites are the one by John Searle, strongly recommend them all). Depending on your knowledge of philosophy, there's an introductory course offered by Oxford that I strongly recommend as well.

As for the poodcasts, In Our Time is the closest thing I know to the TEDTalks. Although they don't explore novel ideas, there's a good episode every week about philosophy/science/culture/religion, in which they explore everything there is to be known about a given topic.

There's one thing I can't understand though, Sys: Do you intend to transfer all your mp3's onto your iPod? If not, you can add to your iTunes library only the folders you'll actually use (in case you know what they are, I don't know how chaotic your HD is :p), and then you can use your library just as a mirror of what you'll have in your little box. It's not like you need to have everything listed there in case you don't know what you want.

I don't know what your music files are like, except for what you've posted here (I hope I haven't missed any post), but I hope this idea can be of some use :p

Why do you even need so much space on an MP3 player? I know it's handy having a lot of music on hand, but all the music strikes me as tedious to sort through.

For the record, I use a 16GB Sony, have had it for 4 years, and it still works just as fine as the day I bought it.

And I can even drag folders into it!

4 years? What model is it, Sykonee?

I gave them a try but, as I said, they wouldn't last a single month in my hands :(

That's a good start.

Thanks :)

Sorry, I meant 3 years. Got the year mixed up, as I bought it around New Year's :clown: . Still...

Model's NWZ-E345

(yep, even the red model)

And trust me, I've been pretty rough with the thing, not to mention exposed it to all sorts of 'vibrant' Vancouver weather. I dunno how it's lasted this long, considering some of the testimonies of its durability. As with so many Sony products, if you get one that works well, it'll last forever. If not... (ooh, I still shake my hand at thee, Sony Discmans...:whip: )

160gb wouldn't be close to all my music.

I don't doubt it. Still, why do you need so much storage?

I've had four years of having to delete something from my player every time I want to put something else on. Four years of having to choose my day's listening before I leave the house. Four years of craving something really driving, or something really summery, and it not being there. Now I want everything that I could possibly want to listen to for any possible reason to be there, all the time, and I want to be able to keep adding to that for the foreseeable future without ever having to worry about what I need to take off first.

And thus the conundrum. Convenience of having most music on hand, at sacrifice of putting it on there; or convenience of functionality (and sound quality, I might add), at sacrifice of huge selection.

Personally, I find 16GB more than enough, but then my portable listening habits have turned rather OCD this past year.:p
