with 160 gigs of music, you are going to need more than folders to make your music accessible using at least the genre and year tags. |
You clearly haven't seen my hard drive. |

Check out Cowon. I am a folder freak my self and I like how I can organize everything according to my taste.
I got the C2, I think that one can be a little light for you (16gb) but I guess they have something bigger also.

because phones now encompass an mp3 player. Rocket science right there. I do think that the concept of storing things locally will be pretty much antiquated in the next 5-10 years. |

Just let people be, mate. Have you ever seen a forum without derailments, slowpokes, and the occasional freaks? They're so sterile they suck.
This being said, there's a Korean brand that sells products similar to iPods, but I can't quite remember the name. All I remember is that it's got a rather bovine ring to it... |

| On a related note, does anyone know of a current solid program to reverse dump your library from your Ipod to your desktop? I have it set to manual (no library backup) which I enjoy, but it's nice to have software that can give you the ability to back it up occasionally. I used to use Yamipod but I hear they're out of date now. I have an Ipod classic 80 gig. Anyone know what the cool kids are using these days? |

Been using ipods since the maybe the first one made and have been in love ever since. i keep killing and stuffing them full of music as i have terrabytes of stuff. So ill show my workflow on what i do as it might help.
I use the pod classic 160gb. they can be rockpoxed (a custom linux port that allows dragging and dropping, support for everything under the sun etc. http://www.rockbox.org/
but i cant be ed doing that so i just use dbpoweramp to convert from flac or any format to any other and its quick. supports and keeps album art and when ripping it will autmatically search for it too. and then i use sharepod to drag and drop it in and its great. itunes is too bitchy with what it will support or not blah blah. |

These are forums where the mods are tyrants. As you can see, this is not the case here because we're awesome :D |

Why should I read the thread? You should be grateful, now you got your opportunity to show everyone how cool you are. |
