this!
SRussel you talk ing bollocks man. i bet you'd even argue that your isnt brown. marcus's posts were not bigotry at all. in england we have no problem with minorities. there are 2 kinds of minorites.. those that come here to start a life of work, raising family, and adapt.... then there are those that come here to claim benefits, get a free house, not work, move all their family over here, dont bother to integrate into british society, but rather stay in close circles and preach hate, and claim racisms if they dont get their own way.
THIS is where multi culturalism dosnt work, they stamp their feet until our government caves in and give them what they want for fear of appearing racist, which leads to racial upset and the prospect of violence.
the EDL [although consisting mainly of toothless simpletons] are 100% against this and want the latter to end.
this poor soldier had his head cut off by 2 brainwashed idiots, that have the audacity to come to preach their insane religious views in a country where originally it was not welcome. and have the outright arrogance to cut a mans head off in broad daylight, then walk up to a camera and in not as many words say 'i live in your country, where my religious views were not founded, i completely disagree with your countries base religion, so i am going to cut a mans head off'.
and frankly, that is just ing nuts!
also, id just like to point out that in no way do i support the EDL, and i am probably the least religious person alive.
EDIT:
also.. the key word here is NOT muslims... its extremists |

As I understand it, the whole point of "the law" in any given country is a careful constriction of individual freedoms to within parameters the state decrees to be necessary to maintain orderly society. The specific parameters are open to debate, but this appeal to "rights" opens up a massive philosophical can of worms that just isn't addressed at all in this thread. Although really I don't why it's here at all, because this is a thread about men chopping people up with machetes and then other men rioting in reaction to that. |
Right, but chopping people up with machetes isn't part of the Muslim religion. Forbidding people from actually practicing their religion is and should be illegal, obviously providing that the practice of their religion doesn't harm anyone else. But people seem to forget the millions upon millions of Muslims who never kill anybody, and blindly associate people of Islam with terrorism and murder. |

Except the brown ones who wear Thobes right? "We have no problem with minorities, just the ones we don't like." |

Marcus may have been trolling, but his point was that UK law supersedes religious law and people living in this country are subject to that, and your response seems to equate that to "taking away their rights". Rather than asking the obvious question of what relevance his post had, you started arguing with it as if it were an obvious corollary of the thread thus far, and from there on out this thread has just been a lot of people swearing at each other. |

I don't think that UK law superseding religious law is taking away their rights, I think that not allowing them to live in the country because they practice a certain religion most definitely is (which seems to be the goal of the ideology that Marcus appears to be preaching). Religion isn't relevant to why those people were killed, and if it had been black people who killed them, and not Muslims, I'm sure the EDL would be rioting saying all the black people should get out of England.
Edit: The whole "Oh there's a link between Islam and terrorism/murder" sentiment is asinine. Nowhere in any text of the Islamic faith is any part of this advocated for or suggested. It's about as logical as thinking all Christians hate gay people, or that all Catholic Priests molest young boys. |

He specifically said "Nobody says foreigners shouldn't be allowed in" provided they "respect the British laws". There are a great many grounds to question what he wrote, but you seem to have bypassed them all and created a strawman instead. |

| He did specifically advocate for the rejection of multiculturalism. |

In Britain live the British. Any minority, from anywhere, if it wants to live in Britain, to work and eat in Britain, should speak English, and should respect the British laws. If they prefer Shari’a Law, then we advise them to go to those places where that's the state law. Britain does not need minorities. Minorities need Britain, and we will not grant them special privileges, or try to change our laws to fit their desires, no matter how loud they yell 'discrimination' |
In the same paragraph he went from a completely ignorant rambling of nonsense to a more reasonable stance, so it's hard to tell what exactly his thesis is. He also refers to minorities as "it" so it's hard not to think he's just an ignorant bigot.
Americans have huge pockets of immigrants who don't speak English (Chinatown, Koreatown, etc.), who shop in areas that are specifically meant for their culture and their people, and we have the same ignorance with people saying "If you don't speak English and if you're not American you should get out." |

You really are utterly ing useless at arguing, aren't you? Religious texts are cryptic, highly metaphorical writings composed hundreds or thousands of years ago in another language, and it is self-evident that they are subject to many different interpretations. To brassily state nowhere in any text is any part of this suggested implies that firstly you've read every text of the Islamic faith in detail and secondly you possess a knowledge of theological philosophy necessary to pass such definitive judgement on the matter. And clearly, both of those implications are bollocks. And then you wade in with another ridiculous strawman conflation by equating "there's a link between Islam and terror" with "all Christians hate gay people".
You have the remarkable ability to take the most reasonable and fair position imaginable and express it in such a stupid way you make it totally disagreeable. |

There are countless Islamic clerics who HAVE read all of their religious texts who would agree that nowhere in any of them does it suggest that people should hack others up with machetes or blow up buildings.
Suicide is specifically forbidden in Islam. The 72 virgins bollocks is meant for ALL men, not only Jihadists, it's almost an equivalent to the Christian belief in heaven or the Buddhist belief in Nirvana. Any interpretations of the text saying that it advocates terrorism are just wrong. The martyrs mentioned in the Quran were participants in holy wars, not terrorists killing innocent people.
Associating all people of a religion with a infinitely small percentile who act on incorrect interpretations is just stupid. |
