Why are you guys taking meds? I've also started taking them several months ago, after I had a breakdown last year, unfortunately.

Insofar as the Jewish question is concerned: The Jewish nation is a "nation unto themselves." That is, Jews have always been meant to live a Torah, religious lifestyle. Assimilation largely occurred during the Enlightenment period, and problems started to arise when Jews began to assimilate and forgo their Torah heritage. If all Jews lived a Torah lifestyle, there would be much less problems and the world would be a much more peaceful, G-d-filled place.

That's the problem for people that take meds and have a positive result for them as apposed to people who take meds but don't like the result. The people that take meds that show a positive result often reach a plateau mindset where they are feeling good and think they no longer need them or they start to feel chained to the Rx bottle and thus feel ashamed for being dependent or just using them so they stop.

What kind of Rx's are you on lang?

The only medicine I'm taking is the green kind. Gets me through my work week, doesn't make me angry at the world. Mild side effects.

That's the thing with me, I feel chained to the Rx and on top of that I was smoking really good bud. The thing is, I hate being chained to either, and much rather go for a week without taking them to remember who I am. I'm not smoking bud, because I don't want pot at this stage in my life; it hampers my creativity. I don't need it.

When I'm on my Rx I'm an overachiever. I funded my software company, I finished the software I was working on, I cooked for my boyfriend every night, I cleaned the house, etc. but I felt like a robot.

When I'm off my medication the productivity plummets, my mind drifts and I only want to sleep.

Sounds like you need a vacation and talk things straight with your doctor.

It looks like that in today's world, people who take meds are more common than those who don't.

I guess I'll have to have a big event like the death of a close relative (or any other thing that could cause a mental breakdown) happen to myself before I can relate to those people, because at this moment, I really can't.

Yeah, anybody taking meds is clearly a whack and absolutely bat. I mean , why can they not just be happy like me?

I'm a firm believer that everybody is a bit ed up in their own way, and we all encounter emotional and mental issues at certain points in our lives, but there does seem to be far too much recourse to pharmaceutical solutions. A few years back I went through a spell of serious depression that lasted about 12 months, but at no point did I countenance meds as a solution. It took some serious self-reflection and hard work to get out of the pit I was in, but I'm fine now. None of this is trying to blow my own trumpet or anything, because I certainly don't feel proud of being in that state, but I'm really glad I didn't just go and ask for some pills, because I don't think I'd have forced myself through any of the repairing process if I had.

Granted, I know people with mental health conditions and they probably do need medication to help with those conditions, but too many people seem to go for the easy, numbing chemical answer that means they don't have to sort out the root issues affecting them. Because I believe that most people can deal with their in-built neuroses and dealing with them is a huge part of being a human being. Medicating them away to a peripheral ache is not.
