alrite wells i'm not trying to apply legal rights onto the forum i'm just (asking) whether or not they do apply... i mean if you write to a newspaper editorial with the same kinda comments you could be sued by someone but i'm just curious whether or not it applies here too ..
i don't agree with censoring anyone here but just wondering how far someone can go with what they say..
peace.. |

It happened on Dalnet years ago and I saw many of the comments that went back and forth - one individual didn't like them so he took them to court and he won.
http://www.ansible.org/~cat/georgek/ircnews.html
People were calling him gay and other stuff so he logged everything, got their real names from their ISP (via IPs & times logged in) |

hahaha oh man that is just crazy ... i can understand someone who runs a company or is a DJ for deflammatory comments .. but suing someone for $200,000 cuz they called u 'gay'.. oh man that is just not worth the trouble not to mention that you would probably lose the case. Man if this guy actually wins his case I'm gonna tape record anyone who disses me and sue their ass ! screw working for a living .. just be an so ppl diss u .. :p |

What about your freedom of speech?
Or it is all about big company names and propaganda that you are reading on their ofiicial sites.
And also are you trying to apply laws on the Internet as well?
good luck, dude
and I am not the person to arguing with......
think about it |
Ummmmmmmm ok does freedom of speech give you the right to say WHATEVER you want regardless of what it is? For example this is a message board and people can say whatever they want (within reason). Yes CANADA is a democracy but does that make this messageboard? More to my point if somebody has an opinion fine, but when it borders on bashing that has no good reason for it and goes way way beyond expressing the person's original dissatisfaction for the party or event then what purpose does it server other than to piss people off for no reason? That to me is just stupid. Just bashing constantly just because somebody feels like it to whoever is around has no real point. If you think St Pete spun "cheese" and wondered why he apparently "switched" from prog to "Cheese" WHO CARES? :) You know dj's can spin whatever they want. And under the name "St Pete" he spins trance. Under the alias "Mach 747" I think he spins prog. I just think all this bs/fighting crap should stop. If you didn't like the party fine, just say I didn't like it, wasn't my thing DONE. Why drag it on for sooooooo long afterwards? |

this is a comment i posted in the smack talk thread about stuff like this ..

it feels like nowadays people are too racy when they post thread replies and comments without first analyzing what they're saying to see if someone might be offended. time and time again i've seen posts like...
"I wish DJ xxxxx would come to Toronto to play"
only to have someone post a follow up like:
"pfftt.. DJ xxxxx blows."
I mean what the hell are comments like that supposed to achieve? Someone is expressing their desire to hear music they like and someone else comes in and adds a pointless comment like that. I don't think a lotta people realize that it doesn't take a lot to make the atmosphere in here feel foul with simple language like that.

Well Trancearmada and Emaster are very good friends of mine too, so back to your point if you are bashing them, I have a big problem with you then too...... Trancearmada said what he heard about Saint Pete and btw his set was pure cheesee... ask him why did he suddenly changed from progressive into trance......????????? |
I never had a problem with Trancearmada, not once did I say I had a problem with him, all I said was that I had a problem with what he said, not his review of St.Pete's set (Trancearmada is entitled to his opinion), but specifically this comment: "All he cares about is money...thats why he switched to Epic so he could get signed to Perfecto". As Desidel, Itikia and Swamper have pointed out you need to be careful of what you say about someone, unless you have factual proof to back up what you say. His comment about St.Pete was unwarranted, and in a board like this that is read by so many people around the world, a comment like that could easily ruin Pete's professional reputation. As his friend, I felt I needed to set things straight, in order to defend his reputation, as I'm sure any of you would do if someone started saying about your friend that was not true.
Now to clear up some technicalities:
1) When I first met Pete back in 1998 he was already spinning EPIC trance, so he was most likely spinning it before then. He was never a full on Progressive DJ, and he did NOT all of sudden switch to EPIC.
2) MACH 747 is a LIVE act that does drum&bass/break beat productions, which has been signed to Perfecto Records. You'll know what kind of sound I'm talking aobut if you can recall back to the STATE 01 party, where they did a live PA in the small room, during the same time slot that Armin was spinning.
Now lets all take Tatgirl's advice and put this ing thread to rest. |

yes but saint pete's production with a 29 palms remix was bliss
mach 747 - invading privately (29 palms mix) = TOP 5 of 2002 |

Indeed, 29 Palms aka Peter Lorimer did a great job of transforming a drum&bass tune into a progressive trance tune. |

dude, I can say whatever I want and critices whoever I want too. If I feel that St.Pete play cheese I would say so and it is my opinion, with all the respect to Pete. And if you have a problem with me just say straight to my face... |

I enjoyed the party; thought transa should have performed for longer; enjoyed what St.Pete played (and didn't think it was cheese); and enjoyed the rest of the night......
Vibe was good too.

Sure say what you want. :D I have NO problem with anybody saying what they want. It just has to be respectful is all I am saying. Blatantly bashing a dj doesn't warrant any kind of respect (even if you think the way they played was ). Put yourself in his shoes, how would you feel life somebody who was at your party didn't like it, ok it's fine to disagree with the person because you didn't like what they spun but to completely bash/freak on the person and name call them based on a performance they have done is just messed. |

I did not calles\d him any names if you can recall, all I said the stuff that he spun not all was cheese, and I am not too sure if you attend this event or not, cause I did not see you. |
