i said on here probably like a year ago in the production section that i had a friend of mine that was a young guy...really into electronic music...but more of the dubstep variety. and when he found out that i also liked electronic music but i explained i was more into house and techno he said to me straight faced..."oh like tiesto? yeah he's like the godfather of house!"

people in the thread thought he was joking with me or something, but i you not that's how a lot of younger people feel. they are just ignorant to the entire genre before armin and tiesto.

Tiësto: the godfather of house :haha:

All joking aside, he's sort of right in a way. He seems to be the only one from the old guard of trance super-DJ's that really understands young people. They don't want the their parents listened to hidden in a modern jacket. They just want big silly rave music, and that's what house is delivering right now.

16 year old kids probably do think Tiesto is a godfather of house, unfortunately. Although he's obviously a figure of ridicule for any fan of electronic music with any sense, Tiesto is at least canny at knowing what the trend is and how to jump aboard it, and he's right about trance. The big trance DJs do still have large followings, but it feels like they exist entirely on the Internet. I can't remember the last time I met someone in day-to-day life who claimed to listen to trance.

Tiesto of today is bollocks but then again, if I was 10 years younger I would probably think he's king like it was 2003 again.

Hey, you can't say he doesn't know hes shooting for a teenage audience.
OrangestO
He admits he's targeting that demographic. it.

Let the man be. He's saving up for his retirement now.

Once upon a time ago, he touched us all with his music.

Time to move on. He obviously has.

I don't give Tiesto too much crap...at least he can admit he's not doing trance anymore unlike a few other top 10 djs out there.

I hate seeing tracks on youtube such as Ayla credited to Tiesto. This is the same problem that we had with DJ Mystik. People gave the guy who was mixing credit for the songs, not the artist. It's a trend that needs to stop.

Pretty much. I know like 2 DJs who like trance, one of them plays hardstyle mainly and the other plays borderline trance. They both definitely know what they're doing though.
I think the underlying problem is that DJs seem almost afraid to play trance anymore, they think that because the best stuff is at least a few years old, people will dislike it and consider it outdated.

lol Tiesto sold out like 7 years ago and now they're bringing the topic back? Need that exposure huh ..

Djs get far too much credit anyway. I remember tiesto being credited for Alone in the Dark by Airwave I asked the moron who uploaded it to change the title but the idiot wouldn't listen and the moron finally changed it.

This topic is so 2007, one thing that keeps bothering me is why the hell is this music so popular :conf: no explanation whatsoever.
