I found myself re-reading The Star's article on Guv's closing. Saturday nights at Sound Academy will be called "The Guvernment" after Guv closes according to Charles.

PS - Andy's C's last night at Guv was amazing. Boy, does that crowd make me feel ing old, though :haha:

I hate sound academy so much... I am happy I out grew guv because if I had to go there to party I would be pissed...
I also don't like driving out of the docks area late at night...

lol I'm reminded of a comment I saw the other day: "Does sound academy put special effort into being terrible or are they just naturally amazing at it?"

Deep Dish or nothing then.

If that's true... I knew they would just continue on with their current program. Who cares about the other DJ's who built a foundation there.

While I don't care for Armin anymore, I would say he's definitely built a foundation there

Less than two months from closing and no word about any big parties near the end. What's the deal? I spent quite a bit of time at Guv back in the day, making trips up specifically to attend events there. Many of those events, especially the all-access ones, still carry a lot of weight when I look back on my clubbing experiences. Like many of you, I'd like to make it back one more time. I know it has fallen off drastically and I may be casting a shadow on those great memories by going again, but the desire is still there. Coming from way out of town, though, means at least a little planning needs to go into the trip and the lack of information is making things difficult. The Gift seems the most viable option but I am fearful it could fall flat right after New Year's. I've never been to The Gift, either, so not sure how it would compare to a major event later in January.... which may or may not even happen......

I would just go. Any time is the better time. At least you gave it one last go.

Don't expect much, then you might be surprised.

I heard they did some huge renovations and put 5 million into it

it's an event not to miss especially if you have never been!

I'm pretty sure that's in error but I haven't seen anything about the 31st being the last day since the Guv originally announced it was closing so who knows?
