Charles said kind of chessy and he is a product of the disco generation... I'm betting on one more time by daft punk
so parlument is the new sound academy name... I can dig that and it fits, guvernment, uniun, parlument...
if some one decent plays i'll go to the grand opening... |

| Hate the location of sound academy. No comment on the name as of yet. If only they had water transportation. Humber bay park to polson. I don't see my self being there often |

lol @ the name. that'll take some getting used to as I'm sure Guv did.
It sounds like he's completely gutting sound academy and they are building up and out as well maybe?
I hope he's still working on that other club that's supposed to be twice the size of guv in 2 years. |

I thought the "bigger club" they were referring to in that one article was supposed to be a downtown/core venue location. I wouldn't consider Sound Acad..., sorry I mean, Parlument downtown. |

Definitely not. He mentions Sound Academy (and it's renos) + the new venue in this article,. The new venue won't be ready for at least 3 years (from last May).

INK Entertainment will continue to host concerts at Tattoo Rock Parlour and Sound Academy; the latter will get a makeover.
"We're going to make sure it's the next hottest spot," says Khabouth.
Changes will include improvements to sound, sight lines, lighting and balconies.
But not to worry. INK hasn't given up on a new massive party space to replace Guvernment.
Says Khabouth: "We have a plan for something much, much larger - like double the size [of Guvernment]. We're committed to sticking by the scene, and we're committed to continuing what we do best, and that is live shows and electronic dance music."
The club will be downtown, but that's the only location detail Khabouth will divulge, because "we're just going through all the legal stuff. The space is absolutely massive. It will take at least three years [before we open]."

I just haven't heard it mentioned in any of the most recent Guv articles which makes me wonder if the legal stuff went to . It's kind of bizarre that he would put so much money into sound academy if they're working on something new to replace it but then again he probably spent a whack load renovating orange room into chroma less than 2 years ago when he probably knew Guv would be closing in the near future. But I guess he needs a big venue until the new one is open and he must know what people think of SA so renovations are a must if he doesn't want to lose all his guv addicts
What's weird is that they haven't been working on the renovations for SA already. You would think he'd have that place ready to go the weekend after Guv closed. From the sounds of it, SA (or Parlument) won't be ready till Spring or Summer. |

I don't know. There seems to be conflicting information on both articles.
Why have two massive clubs? We don't have the volume or people to support our clubs any more. I remember in the early to mid 2000's you had so many options.
Now, with very little and venues to choose from and much smaller ((albiet larger one/off parties ie. electric island, DD, Veld and many others) those contain larger gatherings of people) the amount of people clubbing today downtown aren't for this scene. It's the random birthday nights or bottles service nights are support the majority of clubbers.
I would honestly be surprised if the next major club Charles will open will last even 5-10 years. I think by the time the club is full operational the music scene would have changed a lot or gone in a different direction. I hope it works out, Toronto needs more clubs. Where will I go when I'm 40? LOL. |

I remember the Space Ibiza and Love Music parties went that late.
If they can handle SA being open till 3AM then they can handle it being open till 7 or 8AM. This is the thing I never understood about the cops wanting to shut down skybar at 9AM. Who has a problem with the music at 9AM that didn't have a problem at 3AM? |
