What is the point exactly, though, dude? It's like Jay says, write a blog, or even better, keep a journal. These guys do this for a living and you get to go home and bash 'C-lister' next to his name in a forum? Your expectations are too high and your ego is too big. If you think you can change the game start making some music, I don't know if you are already, and see what happens. Or just don't go to those parties, I don't know. |
Ah yes, the old "You do better!" gambit. We're really running through the age-old TA clichés here. We used to hear that one when people dared to say Tiesto was a load of wank. You'll be telling me I'm only hating because I'm jealous next.
I didn't start this thread, but it's been one of the most successful in Music Discussion for literally years. It's cool to hear people's thoughtful write-ups of nights out. It's interesting to read snapshots of clubbing around the globe. And it can help you make decisions on DJs you might be curious about seeing.
Everyone on TA knows my opinion, they know what I like and what I dislike. If you don't agree with my taste you already know not to take my opinion too solemnly. I wrote a lot of these reviews the day or two after the night out. I wrote some of them the afternoon after the party, waiting patiently for the moment I could actually go to sleep. To me it's no different to sitting up after a night out rating the DJs you saw with your mates, chatting about the different sets, whether the crowd was good, what the sound was like. I'd hope anyone who is actually passionate about music enjoys doing that and enjoys hearing that.

I ing hate minimal. I've always hated minimal. I'm going to get pissed off when some gigging Romanian click-house DJs start hogging the bookings in my town. Deal with it. You don't have any problem ting on awful trance DJs on this forum. |

I certainly try not to anymore.
edit: I guess that's besides the point. Whatever, carry on. |

It is totally different, though. Bullting with your friends after a party and actually writing this stuff for it to stay here forever is different. imo. |

I wasn't discrediting anyone, just because I don't like the music they play. |

| Oh seriously mate, grow a ing pair. Again: do you go around TA policing everyone who "discredits" Armin or Tiesto? But suddenly when it's a DJ you like you get precious? Absolutely pathetic. |

| You make a habit out of it and it annoys me, that's why I say anything. All you do is talk . |

| I've praised the bollocks off a number of DJs in this thread. Don't be so weak minded. |

this is exactly why I look forward to the contributions in this thread. |

| I agree with that, the point I was trying to make is there is a difference between that and trashing djs just for trashing djs like you would after a ty night, with your friends. |

Went to see Marcel Fengler the other week - yet another meh techno gig - few big tunes and the rest average
Will hopefully make it to Klock at Christmas but even he doesnt inspire me with confidence these days :-/ |
I think both Fengler and Klock have gotten a bit complacent, I mean they can still play good sets sometimes but they not at the cutting edge anymore.
I haven't been clubbing much in the last month but I went to a club called Griessmühle on saturday. They have pretty good lineups in regards to house/electro/italo but man the club is just really ghetto and not in good way. Very weird mixed and random crowd aswell. At least Delta Funktionen played a pretty good mix of chicago, acid and more experimental but still slamming techno. |
