So you think the acrobats, stilt walker, VJs, visual artists, contortionists, sword swallowers, fire breathers and installation artists Insomniac artists hires for $$$ are different people than the people you mentioned who do it for free at burns?
From the pamphlets they hand out that go into detail about these type of people it seems like they are the same?
Pasquale has been going to BM for years now and its common knowledge that he hand picks artists he likes and offers them slots for thier art at EDC. Im confused. |
My post doesnt even mention burning man. come on.
I'm guessing you didnt even read my post at all. I have no problem with circus performers, my entire point was that integrated audio/visual production is so much better than a huge stage with owls that have eyes that move back and forth that you can't even compare them.
Circus performers don't work with the musicians. They get up there and do what they do. More power to them. You're missing the point. |

All the visual stuff gets old the 5th time you see it= and again, my problem is that I saw it all in my teens nearly 20 years ago. They're not doing anything new, and really this sort of thing has been around since glam metal/hair rock in the 70's. . |
bull
Ive been going to raves/clubs/festivals since 1995 all over the world, and unless you were on some other planet there is about 1% chance you've personally seen anything close to what Insomniac is doing at the moment.
Nothing and I mean NOTHING has come close to what Insomniac is doing right now.
Don't get me wrong, Insomniac hasn't always been this good, Ive been going to EDC for years, and its only the last couple of years that have been this good. |

|
This is a bit disingenuous, you're telling me these main stage guys don't put there life and soul into what they do?
I am not saying Guetta, Garix, Aoki, Tiesto, and Hardwell make good music(its actually ing terrible) but its not fair to say they don't give a . Just because you don't like there music doesn't mean they don't care. |

Dude, take the rose tinted Eglases off for a second.
What the are you talking about? Ever been to dance valley? The first creamfields in 1998 was absolutely ing bonkers in terms of entrainment with a full size fun fair in it, 6 massive stages and about 8 smaller tents. What about Glastonbury?
EDC is just copying tomorrowland. The stages that EDC are putting up right now are straight out of tomorrowland's playbook. If you haven't been and like that sort of thing, I suggest you go (the music's better anyway :p )
Don't get me wrong, EDC is huge and I'm happy to se EDM doing so well here nin the USA - they're spending tons on the stages but it's nothing that literally hasn't been done 1000 times before. |

Granted, I was talking about the year before with Cox, but Lavo only closed at the very end of 2013. So It's been one year. |

A few years ago i'd agree that Insomniac's EDC main stage was heavily influenced by Tomorrowland.... now to me its unique and doesn't share anything and its more impressive.
Sure ID&T did the cool big stage thing earlier (along with others) but who started it is irrelevant IMO unless you are writing a history book. what you are doing with it now is what counts.
I think the vast majority of people that go to both festivals are impressed and that's really all that is important. |

Sorry but I am over expecting anything at Ultra or Insomniac as far as production.
If you take a flight over to any ID&T event, you will realize how wrong you are.
I am sorry but having uncovered trusses with a bunch of LDC screens and some lasers is not stage production of quality.
It just means you could afford to build a massive wide stage and have a bunch of monitors on it.
Find one stage that is a box at an ID&T event. One stage that does not feel like it belongs at a rock festival. One stage that doesnt scream unique or festival like.
Go to insomniac and Ultra for the music if you like the djs booked. Do not go for production if you have been to anything outside of the US
And at this point, with othe main stage finally getting a real design, expect it to be rehashed and just modified with each coming year. |

Good point, they've definitely lost their souls via what they do. |
