It just means you could afford to build a massive wide stage and have a bunch of monitors on it.
Find one stage that is a box at an ID&T event. One stage that does not feel like it belongs at a rock festival. One stage that doesnt scream unique or festival like.
Go to insomniac and Ultra for the music if you like the djs booked. Do not go for production if you have been to anything outside of the US
And at this point, with othe main stage finally getting a real design, expect it to be rehashed and just modified with each coming year. |
Exactly.
I can'y help but feel that the people defending EDC, don't know what stages look like around the world. There's really nothing that isn't repetition.

Sure ID&T did the cool big stage thing earlier (along with others) but who started it is irrelevant IMO unless you are writing a history book. what you are doing with it now is what counts.
I think the vast majority of people that go to both festivals are impressed and that's really all that is important.

You can't really say it's not heavily influenced; the basis of the design for EDC stages IS the ID&T model. Sure it may be bigger at EDC and they've taken it further but it's really just an extension, tomorrowland had giant animated books and trees, EDC has owls and fish. Big difference.
Again, thw two times I've been to EDC, I saw nothing that I haven't seen albeit on smaller scale in European festivals 10, 15 even 20 years ago.
I will say they are putting a lot in to production, it does look good, I'm juts aying it's nothing original and one trip to a to dance event somewhere else in the world will be a real eye opener.
Element-y is also right that this year will be a re-hash of last year - you're going to see the same owls again...... |

| 2012 and 2013 was enough for me EDC Vegas. It's so much fun, but paying ton of money and hanging at the Neon Garden stage got old. I'm sure you all have done Movement Detroit? Did it 3 times now with VIP which is my only festival buying that ticket for. Attended BPM this year and had a blast WOW! From now on I'll be doing Festivals with House and Techno only. Movement imo is my favorite US Festival. |

Saw Dice and Cox last night, they were AMAZING. Saw Cox solo and it was pretty good. IMHO Eats Everything was the best set so far I have seen in that arena.
Did anyone else experience ERIC PRYDZ?!? OMFG INSANE!!!!!

This set is great IMO. I distrust anyone who talks on Carl, i consider him to be the most class of acts. Production looked otherworldly on the live stream last night but the music sucked so I listened to the Diynamic outdoor sets over it.
