You don't need to be so quick to step in and defend your holy Xpander, I didn't say the songs were identical. You can't deny, however, that the lead riffs are nearly note-for-note the same.
Gotcha85
Bart van Wissen - One Reason and St John vs Locust - Mind Circles (Perry O Neil Remix)
Nrg2Nfinit
I would have to agree with tta and say that i cant really see a similarity between those tracks.. besides the instruments used.. the notes and the lead synth are not the same

on the other hand i just noticed

bt godspeed and sonique - it feels so good sound very similar
sandstorm03
i can see how they are the same style verry close, but thats because charlie may was involved in both. so no biggie.

but id say

members of mayday - sonic empire / above & beyond - no one on earth

maby it took a while for A & b to get the release because they used mom's samples? dunno
Nrg2Nfinit
I actually wasnt listening to the part one version

now that i have.. the intro synth melody sounds very similar to
xpander..

but however ill try to stick to the rules of the thread and say it wont be listed since charlie may was involved in both.. and it very much seems to be that same sound in both productions. good observation though

Agreed, starglider. :)

There was precedence.

For me, it doesn't take away from the glory of "Xpander" -- it only adds weight to Charlie May's talents as a producer (especially with a 6-something year gap between those two tracks).

But of course, as per the rules of the thread like Nrg2Nfinit said...

BTW, Brian Transeau collaborated on some tracks with Sonique on her album -- I'm not sure if they worked together on "It Feels So Good", but the connection is nevertheless more than tenuous.

Some similarities, at least on a structural level:

*Robert Miles - Children
*DJ Dado - The X-Files Theme and some other tracks
*Erasure - First Contact
(also, that track listed as "Robert Miles - Rain" in Ishkur's guide but is not actually by Robert Miles)

*Deepsky - Let Me Live
*Hybrid - Finished Symphony
(they are friends and there is a story behind the similarities)

*BT - Kimosabe
*Plump DJs - Scram
(one version of "Kimosabe" seems to have a drum section that sounds eerily familiar to "Scram"!)

*Enigma - Sadeness
*Delerium - Flatlands
(this one's obvious)

*The Bugles - Video Killed the Radio Star
*The Crash - Still Alive
*Puffy Ami Yumi - Tokyo Nights
(VERY obvious, and fun!)

*Kraftwerk - Computer World
*Komputer - The World of Tomorrow
(obviously a tribute album of sorts but the songs are not remixes or covers, and in the same style)

*Global Communication - 8:07 and 5:23
*Tangerine Dream - Love on a Real Train
(there's GOT to be a good story behind this one!)

*Yanni - Reflections of Passion
*Suzanne Ciani - Velocity of Love
(sort of...)

*Battle Royale OST - music during one part where one character's father hangs himself that has a melody VERY similar to...
*Star Wars OST - that famous Jedi theme that plays with the two suns of Tatooine and many others
(sorry I can't be more descriptive, I forget the exact names)

Not all trance ;)
