| Actually, I'm somewhat impressed with Dominic Raab lately. The problem is London is simply too built on the money laundering he wants to stamp out. I can't see that playing well in the back-channels of well-heeled/connected circles. |

Eh, the money-laundering side of London is not really that well-connected in the 'best' circles. The bad money certainly contributes to the success of everyone, but it's not an integral part of the overall system and it's definitely not part of the best social circles, the circles that Raab would like to be in. He went to a grammar school and LMH lol. |

HSBC and SC are dicks:p
They've doubled down on China.
My sheep shagging, Welsh bro in law works for SC. I make sure to remind him constantly. I jokingly call him a pinko smoker. |

| Yeah, of course; look at where all their profits are. They're Chinese banks, not British ones. |

| Nope. Both are British and headquartered in London. Standard Chartered is without question British. HSBC gets a bit murkier as it stems from Hong Kong (but it's British. Guess where it was founded?). |

| When I said they are Chinese banks, I did not mean that literally, lol. I meant, look at where their profits are. Of course they are going to do whatever the CCP orders them to. |

It's all of the developing world, really. They love more than one despot.
HSBC's mainland division is considered a separate entity due to regulations. Try making a SWFT transfer of over 50k to another non-mainland HSBC account (or any other), and you will be denied, and maybe even asked "to have tea" (uniforms) |

What's the old saying: give a man a gun, and he can rob a bank; give a man a bank, and he can rob the world.
Having worked in banking for 20 years, I can assure you that is a fact. |

| That's not a fact and that's only a 'saying' because of that ty Mr Robot show. |

| You are correct, I do. I just meant so say I've seen some, what I would consider "shady" , such as bank officers purchasing property for rental income that was foreclosed on when the loan probably was shaky to begin with. The entire fractional reserve banking thing as well as money creation via real estate debt...while in MOST cases is a good thing, economically, is a power we'd never grant an individual, but we grant it to a corporation. I would say that overall, banks do more good than bad. But they also get by with some seedy . |
