I bet the SAT scores in your region are off the charts.

Most colleges here, at least back in my day, required the ACT as opposed to the SAT. I never took the SAT, but I have no doubt I'd have royally ed up any math section(s).

Dunno, the guy was always a little weird. Then he just went off the rails for a year or two. I became aware of it when I was out jogging the perimeter of the yard one day. He comes running across the yard and flags me down and says, "I just wanted to let you know that law enforcement and/or govt. agents may be at my home soon, but you have no reason for concern." He finally left, and sure enough, within 15 minutes, deputies from the local sheriff's office were there. Good ole Jack proceeded to take of his shirt and flex for them (he was 72ish at the time), then show them rocks that allegedly contained fossils, and something that was allegedly a meteorite he discovered. It only escalated from there for a couple of years.

I suck at math too. That's what my wife gave birth to a calculator for.

I don't have a lot of that I look back on and say, "I truly regret that"...but being a smart ass teenage prick and literally saying, "I don't need to learn math" is one of them. Not spending more time with my paternal grandfather before he died is another.

I can't workout any other time than first thing in the morning. Working out in the evening after work? that. I don't get how people can do it.
My baby is super chill but just had an epic meltdown. We did the handing over to each trick several times and he's finally submitted. Babies cry, eh.
I'd say it's the perfect time for decks and beer. I'm playing my first gig in two weeks and trying not to go too long between sessions. It feels weird and sort of like a how does this thing work again when I do. I feel pretty confident though. I def have the music I want for it. |

Oh boy. That won't fly in this household. This is tiger mom country. |

I am shocked my mom let me get away with. She was the senior English teacher and guidance counselor at my high school. I actually did okay my freshman year in Algebra I, as I liked the guy that taught it. He moved to an administrative position the following year, however, and the lady they brought it was a real bitch. She didn't like my mom (teacher politics, I guess, I never asked), so she didn't like me, and I just reflected that back on her. That's the only reason I can think of that my mom let me slide. I saw her put a lot of effort into a lot of kids over the years, and most of them stated that her senior English/Lit. class was the only class that had prepared them for anything remotely college level. I lived with my cousin (man kind, not the ing kind) in college, and he was a year ahead of me and good enough at math to do computer science, whereas I had to go the College of Bidness route. He made more in his first internship type job that I make now, 20+ years later.

They start algebra in grade 3 in China lol.

And why not? I think we've shown pretty conclusively that you can start lots of things that were once considered "advanced learning" much earlier than the old schools of thought (pun?) once championed.
