This is not a recent development.

Understood. I should have worded that more carefully, as I meant that in the "West" we have only recently started to eschew the notion that "muh kid's too young for that fancy math learnin's!" Let them eat paste! :o

I would say the theft of IP is also not a recent development, just to cover both of my bases here.

Or, it's just normal for children whose native language's writing system is so retarded that it requires years of rote memorization to be able to read and write properly. They use those memorization skills they got from this process to great advantage for subjects that pair well with it.Also? An insane mother that quizzes him on the multiplication table at dinner. Proper results mean ice cream. results get apples. Ask them to get creative though? Crickets. Hopefully a 2 pronged approach pays off. That's why he learned Chinese first. ABCD is easy as . My wife sat in on a kindergarten class at this school we were thinking of sending our kid to. She's like, "They don't teach anything at all." She ain't wrong.

At my age and salary, I'd be fine if someone bitch slapped some math into me at a much younger age, lol. Still...it's "better" than digging ditches, roofing houses, or getting shot at. Physically, at least.

Watch Parasite. Brilliant movie. Koreans are pretty much the same in terms of education and the retarded lengths they go to. A lot of it is for housewife bragging rights more than anything.
Zoso
I need to watch that. It has been highly recommended on most of the movie/film forums I frequent.

Hits home for me. Parts of the movie feel like doxxing.

I'd say it's the perfect time for decks and beer. I'm playing my first gig in two weeks and trying not to go too long between sessions. It feels weird and sort of like a how does this thing work again when I do. I feel pretty confident though. I def have the music I want for it.

Indeed! No beach, currently enjoying a frosty blood orange sour beer with a slice of orange on the deck, while my sweet child plays at her water table.

That sounds pretty damned good. I'm still on the clock, but I'm abusing the time by watching DeepMind play Star Craft II on YouTube. I got interested after finally taking the time to watch AlphaGo beat the ranking world player at Go.

Ah yes, I always enjoy the building of pylons myself. NOT.

:stongue: Hell, you get geek points/cred for even throwing the term out there, lol. I have loosely followed some of these AI stories, but this is the first time I've taken the time to really watch a specific AI in action. I'm not skilled enough to program myself, but I have always had an appreciation of programming and all of the fascinating things you can do with the right code. The data sets they use to train these things are neat, too.
