Haven't had a drink in 2023 and have lost 14 pounds. Aiming for 100 (nights without drinking that is). |
I've achieved 103 and lost 23 pounds so far. Feels great. Super happy about it. Think I'll do 100 to start every year moving forward.
I'm in no rush to have a drink. Waiting for the right moment. Will definitely be a glass of French wine or champagne. Thinking a bottle of Burgundy with a fillet :gsmile: |

Congrats dude! Bet you feel amazing.
I've cut back a lot myself. Better sleep is the number one thing I appreciate most about drinking less. |

Thanks! :)
Did 104 and caved with a bottle of Nuits Saint-Gorges on Saturday night. Definitely feel I've reframed my relationship with alcohol. Staying fit is now my focus. Hopefully that sticks through the summer  |

i think the most important and most underrated aspect of drinking less is the lack of days where i am taking like 7 liquid s.

Yes Lira, we're still talking about snowboarding (and skiing)! Do you have any pics?? My local "mountain" is probably the best thing going in Ontario; however, this year's winter has made for really varied conditions moreso than ever. Beautiful views of Georgian Bay from the top though! I'll snap some pics next time I'm out! |
Unfortunately, in my solitary pursuit of snowboarding, I failed to capture any photographic evidence of my lack of self-love or care for my own safety as I plunged board-first down the slopes. However, there was a frame for selfies that kind of shows what the place is like: white, cold, and quite empty now that I look at it.

A hiatus of five years left me uncertain of my abilities, but the rustiness I anticipated failed to manifest, and soon I was letting Isaac Newton run the show and hurl my weary body down the slopes. It took me a while to muster up the courage and start carving the mountain left and right and spinning back and forth since my toe turns weren't flowing well in the first few tries. But I'm pleased to say that my efforts yielded no injuries, other than having to goose-step around the flat for the whole weekend because the mere existence of my thighs hurt.
That's when being old isn't as fun as it used to be :p
And your pics?

i regret to inform you that it in fact will not be worth it |
Amélie Lens was fine, but it was her husband who made me scream like one of our grandmothers when they first saw a toad-haired Beatle shake their hips in the '60s. You know what I'm talking about, right? Do you recall those scenes of throngs of girls fainting as waves of estrogen crashed against the dazed and confused security guards who stood between them and the four hapless lads whose saccharine songs no one could truly hear over the sound of collective hysteria? That's how crazy everyone was throughout the whole thing, except the music was good. Men to the T to the all. Mental. It was a moment that felt like nirvana was about to knock me right out of existence as Farrago dropped Renato Cohen's "Pontapé" and - boom - the people around me went berserk. I half-expected to have a Scottish kid next to me bawling and saying his dad had died for this, but in that moment, all that mattered was the chance to finally hear that magic drop on a proper sound system. If only Korean Arturob had been present, he would have most definitely expired on the spot before Paul van Dyk could even witness it, and there would be no doubt about the autopsy: socks lethally off-rocked. I know, for I was almost a goner myself.
The only downside, which had never been an issue before, even in Korea, was the overcrowding. I'm painfully aware it could have been much worse, and my last memory could have been Amélie hopping up and down behind the decks, arms wide open like she was Christ the Redeemer welcoming her children into the afterlife, as I grappled with other party-goers in an impromptu scrum trying to figure out whose ankle I was smelling. Still, even if it never quite came to that, I would occasionally take a blow to the chin from a directionless hair bun or ponytail as people pushed forward, or I would deflect incoming scalps to avoid biting, chomping, and smelling them like a zombified Joe Biden...but it was all in vain. The entire Elseve rainbow could be savored by my taste buds back in my apartment for as long as the ringing of a fabulous night out continued in my ears. Luckily, the tinnitus vanished as my plane lifted off.
8/10, would go again if I could. |
