We're in Dublin for the week. Beautifully rainy and cold. Much better than hot and humid! |
Visited a few weekends ago and DJ'd my first major gig there -- about 50 people. Went well so I'll always love Dublin and think of it fondly. That said, wasn't impressed with the city. I love a Guinness but hated how much they used it as a commercial means. Also couldn't order any alcoholic drink to our room before noon. Lame. Rained the whole time, too. It was cool and all but no London. Not that I'm comparing. They also didn't have any good music nights going on the Friday night I arrived to sneak into for a few hours to check out. Was only there for 48 hours so didn't get a deep perception of the town but I wouldn't return. But I will because my friend who married lives there now. Bah. I still want to explore Ireland as a whole though. |

But the chips there, not sure if any other place has them like it but it's like mashed potatoes with a crispy outside. Also loved the varied restaurants, it's hard to describe but these little places with their own character were amazing. Here in the states it's just a bit different, huge large places all spaced out. Then the parks and friendly people. but yea, didn't look like much edm anywhere.
Also when you live where its 35C everyday and feels like 39 with the humidity, I was loving the cold and rain :)
Bad part was I got food poisoning the night before we left, was up at the toilet at 1am, rallied at 8:30a to get to the airport, sat through a 8 hour flight and 45min drive home and survived! |

| Final race of the season, USAT Nationals. Just watched the pro men compete, shaved my legs and balls, watching food network. Gonna go out and smash it! In general I don't think I'm as fit as I'd like to be, largely blaming it on my plantar. Gonna try to do lots of PT this off season and heal up. |

You go, you, I hope you do well! *fingers crossed* :)
Speaking of challenges, albeit of an altogether different nature, the quandaries of adorning my brothership in such an erratic manner lies in the fact that, although I had bought an electric guitar prior to my sojourn to Korea, it was only during my time there that I got a goddamn audio interface so I could plug it into my computer... which means only now, 18 months later, do I find myself blessed with the auspicious occasion to subject all my poor acquisitions to the rigours of good old nu metal nostalgia. And, it's been not too bad.
Drowning Pool's "Bodies"? Easy and reasonable. A marvellously gorgeous song representing a beautiful idealistic era. A song birds can sing.
System of a Down's "Chop Suey"? Sophisticated and straightforward, I'm surprised it's not played more often at churches and other worship services. The Pope should give it a go sometime.
But Jesus red-capped Christ, why were people in the 1990s so damn weird and why did I underestimate how unusual Wes Borland's riffs are!? Why did it take so long to figure it out? Sure, I mean, I knew the guys from of Korn had embraced the seven-stringed guitars just so they could stoke the embers of ire within their bassist's soul and steal his thunder... but Limp Bizkit!? I can't believe that I could be deceived (but I was). It is a revelation that currently finds me engrossed in the study of tablatures and has me counting frets over and over again, all in the noble pursuit of rendering the most heartrending ballad ever through my newfound instrument and without having to put my tender heart in a blender...
... I mean, god dammit, do I really have to do it all to play "Nookie"? Come on! :p |

| Also for the record I do not appreciate you guys bullying me and exploiting me when I was severely depressed and vulnerable. I believe one of the people involved was a nurse which is just ed. I do not know why you guys think that sortof behavior is acceptable. This forum is dying and I can certainly see why. It has a reputation of being quite hostile and it's well deserved. Even if you don't like my posts here I contribute to the dj promotion forum in multiple ways and I'm sure I'm not the only one who has been put off by their experiences on the COR. |

| You make it sound like you were deliberately targeted because you were depressed and vulnerable. You were just a name on a screen. We didn't know anything about you, and you got abuse because you were extremely annoying. Garbage in, garbage out. |

We hear you and, as moderators, there are only two things we can say:- If you find the posts against you to be downright offensive, rather than just critical, you may message one of us. We will then assess whether it crosses the line. As a rule of thumb, if you're unfairly being called names or having your personal information exposed against your will, we will promptly address the situation. However, if you're merely facing criticism, there's little we can do; otherwise, we'd have to create a kindergarten-like environment. We may enforce civility to some extent.... but compassion cannot be enforced, and I swear on my metre-long hippie hair that if I could, I'd do it in a heartbeat. However, I can't go around shoving lilies and lollies down angry throats until offenders all fart cotton candy in unison. Also, you can always block people whose presence bothers you if they're not committing any bannable offences.
- If you're feeling vulnerable and depressed, I read elsewhere about your commitment to spending more time here. Are you sure the best course of action is to be in a place full of strangers, some of whom may not be sympathetic to your pleas? Wouldn't it be better to be closer to people whose company you enjoy or engage in your hobbies? Of course, if you feel ready to deal with indifferent strangers, then the more, the merrier. However, I'd advise you to think before dedicating more time to the internet in general if you're not emotionally okay.
