I'd agree, I like synthpop, so I like trancepop. Simple as that for me, only I call it eurodance for the most part. But I gotta have my trance too. |

Trance is maybe people. The old "98/99" days are over so stop living in the past. If you don't some vocal tracks, don't listen to them. |

I have to agree with beatz statement, that eventually vocals make trance more cheesy, but thats just our opinion right? i dont care what everyone else listens to.. we all have our different taste of music!

^^ these tunes i love and they are vocal
but i dont see they OMG OMG OMG about Motorcycle - as the rush comes, that tune just doesnt fit the tunes i mentioned above, and >IMHO< its cheesy and overrated. ...No flames please.

i think the point of the thread starter is he doesn't want producers to make cheesy vocal tunes to make money as this means there'll be less quality trance tunes out
if these cheesy tunes sell well, they'll continue to be made and thus, what other people listen to affects what he wants to listen to
however, this trend will not stop and this thread will make no difference, but i hear your concern and hope the scene isn't destroyed
selling out is bad mmmkay, yet people still have to make a living, the paradox of capitalism and art

To a certain extent i do agree. I mean that vocal mix of hi-gate hurricane is appaling. Its by far one of the worst vocals i have EVER heard added to a melody.
But sometimes vocals add a raw emotion that cannot be beaten by a melody. For instance, take delerium - silence. This is one of most ppl s top tunes of all time. Can u seriously imagine that without vocals?
I do agree that vocals make music a bit commercialised, but if the added vocals create more demand for the track then that's not a bad thing because at the same time it will also bring the the music to ppl's attention. When i first heard the vocal mix of 4 strings - into the night, i thought the vox stood out like a sore thumb, didn't fit with the tune, just sounds like some random bloke in a study slapped some vox over the top of a great melody. But the more I heard it the more the vocals stuck in my head. And now i don't mind the vox version as much as i used to.
My problem is not so much the use of vocalists, it is the use of vocabularly. Crappy lyrics will ruin a song. I think part of the problem is that these songs are made by producers with ltd abilities in english and they use crappy rhyming nursery rhyme e like ike "i want to fly high, into the sky, together forever, u and I". It's crap like that that will ruin a good melody. But stuff like dt8 destination has beautiful, emotively raw vocals that touch a nerve. i don't have a problem with vocals i have a problem with the lacklustre expression that some vocal songs have. |

I totally disagree with this post, and I'm not gonna waste my breath. But what I will say is that if I never heard Delerium - Silence (Dj Tiesto Remix) live, in a crowd of 20,000 people in the middle of it all, rolling my balls off 3 years ago, singing along with Sarah Maclachlan, I prolly wouldn't be as much into trance as I am now. There are too many good vocals to name, but yes there are some bad, and it shouldn't be singled out as "ALL vocal should die"!
