Everyone is bringing up some good points about Paul on this thread...
I've been listening to Paul since the days of 45 RPM and one thing he has been able to do is try new things in his sets and productions, which is why Im disappointed with NBY b/c it seems like it took 10 minutes to produce it....lets not even talk about the Vandit Mix....
His sets as of late have been a bit above average in my opinion, but not great...whats lacking is the playing of his own productions and remixes....ones that will blow everyone away. If you listen to most of his live sets between '99 & '01, the majority of the set are his remixes and productions....;)
Bottomline: To everyone who has responded to this thread...I'll see you friday!:D
BTW, theres more to Electronic music than just Melodic Trance....hence, the playing of "progressive" tunes by Paul;) |

Look, although John called this the Van Dyk Flame Thread, nobody in the forum actually flammed PVD. I don't think it was ever intended for that reason. Everyone is subject to their own opinion, but because of the overwhealming hype for PVD in this forum, everyone is forced to write something nice or write nothing at all. I see 3-8 threads pop up on why PVD is the best, so I see nothing wrong with 1 thread stating reasons why he isn't.
I'm still love PVD and am very excited about Friday :cool: |

I agree I love progressive. But lately I dont like the way pvd sets up his sets. It seem like every 2 to 3 months he sets it up 1~2~3 style and just goes genraly by a plan. Making me feel like his mind isnt really in it.

feb@roxy was the WORST set i've ever heard paul spin.
it was so boring. it put me and the rest of my crew (die hard pvd fans) on our butts at the back of the dance floor for a good hour before we decided to leave EARLY. i like it hard, but that wasn't hard, it was just BORING.
i didn't think there was any flow to the set, and it wasn't going anywhere so we left at 8.
feb@roxy was so insanely good...a great mix of everything, and great flow through a 6 hour set. imo paul at his finest!

i also feel obliged to write something nice or nothing at all on certain matters. i don't like tiesto, but i'm not starting threads on how ty i think he is and how i hate his mixing and how i think he plays the same sets over and over. i just don't post in that thread.
