What a freakin amazing night!!!! Got there early to avoid lineup, and was immediately impressed by the set up of the Kool Haus. I couldnt believe how nice it looked, and how good the system sounded. Oliver started the night out nicely as usual. Got a bit more tribaly towards the end, which was very appopriate. Desyn Maseilo then came on, and i was really inpressed. Great warmup to what was to follow. Then, on came the man. Lawler was exactly how i expected.................... UNINGBELIEVABLE!!! Such great flow to his set, and his mixing seemed effortless. Unbelievable track selection, and what a vibe he set. So many people just given 'er on the dance floor. I went to the Guv at one point during the end of his set, only to run into an endless sea of gay men.....left quickly. Went back to the Kool Haus to catch the end of Lawler, and was dancing like a maniac right up front, when all of the sudden i got bumped by some guys walking in front of the stage. I look up, and whos right in front of me???? AVB!!!! I said whats up, and he seemed to be in a great mood (as usual) and shook my hand. Then went on minutes later, and delivered a solid set. Started out amazing, and he was so into it. His attitude totally reflects in his sets, and its so cool to see a dj who shows so much emotion while spinning. Had to leave at 6 since my friends were getting restless and wanted to go. I met so many people, and i was really impressed by how friendly everyone i met was. Incase i did run into any of you and just didnt know you were a TA, i was up front the whole time, dancing like a maniac, with a grey guess shirt with black sleeves. Next party : Mauro/Deep Dish @ Guv

Especially this one blonde (Stacy) very busty, and such a cute face.

i also wanted to add that me and my friends were really impressed by the bouncer in the guestlist line and the searchers. they were so nice and friendly, more like what I'm used to at System. I dunno if it was a fluke, but all my crew noticed it and it was greatly appreciated- good way to start off the night. It was also nice to see beautiful scantiliy clad men when you walked in the Guv entrance, instead of beautiful scantilily clad women as a change...maybe they could have both next time.

I expected a good showing from Armin. Good would be a serious understatement of what he delivered Thursday night. I'll get back to him but first a review on the night in general and the other acts.

As most know, I've always been critical of Guvt events (and with good reason). Credit to them for getting solid acts (no arguement there) but consistently there have always been issues with overcrowding, rude security staff, insane door charges, out of control coat check lines etc. Well I have to say that iDream was exactly what I had been dreaming every event would be like at Guv/KH :)

Given that the lines were lengthy as usual, but done through the KH so you don't have to waste a ton of time getting over to the KH. However I was in the guestlist line so ended up having to coat check in Guv anyway. The coat check line would be the only thing I would have a negative comment on from the entire night. Got in around 12:15 (1 hour in line) and the line was already over to the washrooms in Guvt! I thought since they were moving the lines so slow, the coat check line would be shorter but oh well.

From the time I spent in line listening to the fairly gay dance beats in Guv, I observed a nice laser setup in the room. Looks like they brought in some additional laser units to complement the already impressive setup they have in thre. Nice. But Guvt is not where I intended on spedning the night, I took the tent-tunnel the hell outta there. So on to the Kool Haus where Steve Lawler had just got up on the decks.

All I can say about the setup in Kool Haus is wow! What an amazing job the Goldclub/iDream team did on this place. Definitely the best setup I've seen yet for KH. The stage where they normally have the DJs was converted into a VIP area with couches, a bar and side square areas for the Ibiza-style dancing as someone said earlier. The DJ booth was on the opposite side of the room from the stage. Elevated similar to when Deep Dish performed there however it had a staircase from the dancefloor so that you were able to go up there. I was surprised that they didn't have security guarding that but it was a cool vibe and people were generally good about it. Of course there were the crackheads just standing there preventing some of us from going up and taking pics and of course that hoochie mama whom I'm sure some of you saw that was harrassing Armin every 10 mins or so  Anyway the lighting and sound were spot on all night and a huge improvement over the Ultra spin event.

Lawler played a great hard, sometimes tribal, sometimes vocal set. Really enjoyed his set but for me it was really just a warmup for Armin who I was really there for. But Lawler definitely had the dancefloor going well and everyone seemed to be having a great time. By no means was it overcrowded and it was a fairly diverse crowd - lots of good looking girls out there, lots of party people in addition to the clubbers. I think that's to be expected when you lineup two different djs like Steve and Armin.

So onto Armin, the man of the hour who I had the pleasure of meeting shortly before he went on stage. He was definitely pumped for the event and mentioned that he really enjoys playing Toronto. As Desidel mentioned earlier I told him I was looking forward to hearing As the Rush Comes and sure enough it was his opening track! After that was just an all-out trance assault, the likes I have never seen in this town! Even better than his set at Labor of Love which was quite good but his energy up on the decks is unmatched. I've seen Tiesto, PVD, Fleming and all the other big trance DJs and I have to say none come close to Armin's energy. The whole night the guy was laughing or had a smile on his face. Every pic I have has one or the other. He really gets the crowd going not only with his amazing track selection but his infectious energy. His mixing was smooth the whole way through as well and as others have listed some of the tracks he played, I won't go into them except to say that that was the best selection of trance I've ever heard.

Armin as I expected played until they told him to stop and even then he did about 2-3 encores after that - that's how dedicated he is to the crowd that was still going strong at 8am. He went on until about 8:30.

Shout outs to all the TAs I had the pleasure of meeting last night:

Desidel - Good meeting you man. I hope that 3 min recording is of As the Rush Comes!

RJ (Rabbit Joker) and Endlesswave - Nice to put faces to the names!

I know I'm probably forgetting names here but it was a long night and met a lot of cool people. Looking forward to the next big event which looks to be the May two four.

Peace,

Trigger

So how long did Armin spin for? Did he start right at 4 and finish up at 6am like advertised? That's one of the reasons I didn't go....because it was only a two hour set. I like 3-4 hours at least.

I can't believe he dropped Communication....it's so old (99) that you just don't expect it (or For an Angel or Seven Cities as well) but I think it's totally cool that he plays some oldies. I think the old stuff is better anyway.

do you not read the posts?? Armin played 4 to 8-8.15 ish. He is re-releasing Communication on his new Cd. You missed the best party!

yes I read them....but not right now...too LAZY because I just got back from exam so BACK OFF JACK!:toothless

And I know he's releasing Communication on his artist CD...but it's still the same old song right, unless it's a remix, of which there are already many.

Armin played till 8:15. I was scared to check the time, as at one point I was sure he would be off at 6am and it had to be near that time. When I found out it was 6:30am and he was still playing, every tune thereafter I was anticipating the end. But Armin, like the crowd around the booth, needed to show what trance 2003 is all about and mother ******s its right on.

Nice to see Diesdel, Time2Burn, and Endless Wave and nothing like hanging with a strong trance crew.
