Isn't this just Phase Macthing?
Someone asked me if I mixed keys, or key matching whatever, and i had no idea, but I do it without even knowing.
Sweet :D |

Umm, ok I do it different again.
i press start/stop once when i turn on my decks, and again when i turn them off at end of set.
isnt that why slipmats were invented? :P
that way you can just drop in record on the beat, no 2 sec / spin up / torque bull, its going at the speed already. |

| I'm with gumble, who the starts and stops the platter all the time? (except for Trancey Ash with his 1337 prog tricks ehehehe, but that doesn't count) |

Ok i seriously tried what GelatinPuff said, but i guess i done it wrong...i don't understand your way to DJ. Is there a way to explain it better.
What i do is just try to match the beat first off, if the beat goes off then i'll nudge it back and if matches up again then i push the BPM slider down and vice versa....CUEing i release it 2 seconds before because my turntables response time is very slow...it's not instant response time, if it was then i'll just press the start/stop button on the beat. |

Thats the verrrrrry first thing i done on my crap ass turntable when i got it bit it just makes things worse cause the response time is not fast enough to catch the beat on time...thats why i do the 2 second jump. |

Well you're talking about beatmathcing there. :)

Okay, first of all "Cueing" just refers to a point in the track you place a type of "mark" at. basically you want to cue up on the very first beat of the phrase
ie.
1-2-3-4-5-6....29-30-31-32
^ right there (the first beat of the phrase)
the way you're doing it is somewhat like this
29-30-31-32-1-2-3-4-5-6....
^you're setting up the cue about here(which is roughly two seconds before you want to throw it in), and then once it speed up you have it right.(its okay i guess, it still works, but if you get on another deck it wont work, because another deck will take more or less time to spin up)
So this i what i do.
1.I beatmatch the two tracks.
2.I line up the track i want to throw in on the very firsT beat of the phrase:
1-2-3-4-5-6....29-30-31-32
^ right there
3.I hold the platter down (to stop it from moving once i press start)
4.I press start(but it dosent move forward because you still have the platter held down)
5.The exact moment you want to throw the track in. let go with a slight forward flick of you're wrist.
and thats it.:) |

holding the platter? again, werent slipmatts invented for that?
wouldnt that (eventually) cause problems with the platter? |

jeez! i dont mean have the in platter revolving "all the time" and i dont mean holding the platter down "all the time" either
when you have a track cued up, hold the (you said record - which is kinda ty because thats how you get finger prints on em :whip: )
| quote: | | hold the record, release when necessary |
record/platter down(to stop it from spinning up once you press start)
press start.
and then flick. |

WERD i do exact same!
Once I have beatmathced them and cue it to FIRST BEAT, i press stop, so I can dance around to the other track or do 1337 tricks, then when ready go back to the other track and release it on firt beat with a flick of the wrist, bob's ure uncle, cueing made easy, just add water. Then mix for 5 min (did ths yesterday, 2 massive prog tracks!
Amani vs Teapot - Wise Man Speaks ---> Dj Gogo - Sayna's Vein's II)
Mixing is great fun! :D Enjoy it and feel sorry for all those taht dont have decks to mix it up! :( |
