How often per day do you practise on your decks?

To immaculize you skills how often to AUTAs practise each day.

I practise 1 minute a day, seems low but it gets the job done. After getting my decks for the first time i practised for at least 1-3 minutes a day for one week and by the end of the week i could mix properly.

What about you?

hey Dj_Psygnosis, i actually always pictured u havin ur decks for a while. u've been mixin for a while right? with cdjs?

um 1 min a day? is that a typo? when i first got my decks, i was on them an hr or 2 a day, that was to get the technicals. these days, i dun have much time, so will probably play once or twice a week, 2-3 hrs each time. more so to explore, experiment, try to be creative n c what goes with what.

edit: only had my decks for 3 months comin

Yes 1 minute a day, and i only got decks less than a month ago, i learnt how to mix by just watching my friend mix and me using Atomix and Wave Studios for a while so i could get used to it...BUT when i did get my decks on the very second day surprisingly i had a knowledge of how to mix including the secrets of DJing....very weird.

BUT yeh, 1 minute a day for 1 week then i was able to mix flawless. Soon i wanna move to longer hours but the neighbours bloody ring the cops even if its 2 in the afternoon. :whip:

Usually 1 minute means 1 mix from one song to another...i dont sit through the whole song when im practising...i BPM match less than 20 secs then i just push it forward and see if i can cue right.

Yes i did use my friends CDJ for a while, but i found it very complicated compared to Turntables.

What about anyone else?

i usually try and mix at least once a day, even if its just 2 songs

strangely though i havent touched my decks in nearly a week.

That must suck dude. How will you ever make a demo? :(

I mix for a couple of hours per day. Every time I get behind the decks I try and play a set. I find it's also good to record every set because that way you can really analyse it and improve it next time.

Yeh it does, but when i want to make a demo mix for Nova or whatever i have to go tell them that i'll be having the music loud for atleast 4 hours, usually they agree but it does get on my nerves that i have to go through the trouble of doing this everytime.

Yeh i should, i haven't really sent out any demos to any clubs yet, but soon hopefully i would. About 5 months ago i met Andrew James in CSR and he said that he could get me a job in Home Niteclub but i was only 17 at the time so i couldn't do it, i might go pay him a visit now...

And Jay Kue, i could mix out of the headphones, but the experience is not the same.

I try to do at least an hour a day. Also helps you learn your music better.

1 minute a day????? Are you for real? 1 minute :?
nixter
I try to mix 1- 2 hours a day during the week.
Play a few extra hours on the weekend. Will spin for a bit, have a break and then go back to the decks.
