Odd don't you think? Iraq invades Kuwait and the States barge in. The Israelis take land from several countries during the 67 war and you don't see the States pressuring them to hand it back until very recently.. |

| Have you all failed to realize that all news has some form of bias. You may not agree with it or you may agree with it but when watching the news, take it with a grain of salt. I do find that cbc has the more in depth coverage compared to other sites. Look at the Toronto Star for example...you need to realize that the star tends to have an axe to grind sometimes. News always has some bias, so please don't complain about it because it's always been that way and i doubt it will ever change. Goes with the territory i guess...if you have such a problem write to them and complain. I've done it many times with the star including today...tell them you don't feel the coverage is accurate and why. Most news places welcome feedback. |

| Good point, the war wasn't Israel's fault. They just defended themselves. That doesn't do much good for all the civilians that got caught in the middle of it though and just want a normal life instead of what they have right now. I mean this for both sides even though Palestinians are getting the worst of it. |

CNN = Absolutely brutal biasing of stories and show probably what the American government wants it's public to see..
CBC = A great outside perspective and normally unbiased however tends to lean to the left a bit in some instances; but that's a reflection of our government as well...
Overall I don't normally watch the news or read the papers mostly because it's full of crap I don't need to read.
Newpapers and media have an overall agenda of selling their warez; don't forget it...:disbelief |

Bah, how quickly this turned into a middle-east discussion.
I see three things:
1. Regardless of how many middle-eastern casualties are due to the U.S. and Israel, the CBC does manage to trivialize the victims of terrorist (i.e. suicide bomber) attacks, and stir up when purely military targets (i.e. armed-to-the-teeth members of Hammas) are assassinated or taken prisoner in an almost surgical operation with little to no civilian casualties. Take a glance at the National Post, they do a pretty decent job of covering both sides of the story.
2. What matters is not how biased the media is, but how actively you question what you hear/read, how often you do your own research, and whether or not you can think for yourself and decide for yourself what the truth really is. Anybody who accepts rhetoric without conclusive proof or counter-argument, should not be participating in any political discussions.
3. I think all Canadians need to step aside from US and middle-Eastern politics and start paying attention to our own. We have enough political problems in our own country! You guys [B}do[/B] realize that the rest of the world sees us as a living joke... right?

yeah....but CNN is anti-Arab and anti-everyone who doesn't agree with the USA.
Now, I'm not a fan of Arabs, but the Yanks and Jews go on and on and ing on about Arab terrorists. Need I remind people that the Jewish terrorism against British military officials, civilians and arabs in pre-Israel Palestine was some of the WORST acts of attrocity and terror ever committed?
Israelis tend to have a short memory. Oh....and the Yanks are so pro-Israel because they want the Jewish vote in the US, and it's a sizable portion.
CBC and BBC are the two best news networks in the world....be happy they aren't just propaganda spewers like CNN and all other AMerican networks. |
