I totally agree....i am a canadian, living in toronto but i go to a university in the states. Unfortunetely, americans aren't the peace keepers as CNN claims. They are very ignorant and hypocritical people and i can say this from experience. CBC is one of the best networks around besides BBC. You will mostly get the thruth that is well hidden by american networks. BTW, i'm new to this forum, but i saw some of you at Tiesto....

I have many friends that have and still do work at the CBC news center here in Toronto. Thier job revolves around writing the news scripts in which the reporters will read on national television.

What they told me was that there are trained and extremely careful in their word use and nuetral positioning on all news issues because they want that "quality" reflected from their research. In fact, CBC news is actually internationally popular becuase of its lack in biased reporting.

We must never forget that everything that is mediated has some sort of biast influence no matter what the news agency is.... however,,,, one must weed out the Newsnetworks that have a blatent side while concentrating on ones that seem to give factual hard evidence to report their claims.

For me, I receive my news by watching reading and listening to many entities of information. By doing this you not only see a pattern in the reporting, but you get a general idea of what is going on. After extensively attaining this knowledge ... whether false or true or in between, you remove the extent to which you are unknowlingly succombed to tricky biased reporting...

I will admit,, i do watch CNN...but only to scrutinize how reporting is executed.

ALWAYS QUESTION...even if you agree with what is being shown!

Well, why don't you? I'd like to see your reaction when your relatives, friends die in a terrorist attack..

Id like to see your reaction when a child gets shot in the head for playing ball outside becuase of curfews imposed on Palestinians by Israel... or an old man in a wheel chair get crushed while in plain view of an armoured tank... the list goes on... many die on both sides.. but you cannot deny that Israel has killed 3 times as many palestinians than terrorists have with Israeli's.

I'll try to keep it brief.

CNN is a corporation owned by American people. If CNN shows a bit on how "BAD" US is, then Americans will STOP watching CNN. Thus, money will be lost => Owners will get pissed off and start firing people. Thus, to avoid all this hassle, why not just show chocolate coated bull for the fat american viewrs?

Overall, my fate in the News was lost ions ago.

And regarding middle east: That post by Durafei regarding Hitler was really pathetic. Comparing everything to Hitler is the saddest argument I've heard.

Like my best jewish friend's joke goes: "I'm not allowed to piss on this tree? Is this because I'm jewish? You're a NAZI arn't YOU!!! HITLER worshiper! OPression!"

I'm always ripped between the two sides on the middle eastern conflict. My life long best friends are as jewish as they come, thus I attempt to maintain an unbised view on the matter. It is the only way to keep true to thyself. Okay, here is my take on this. I realize its not fully developed, nor well explained, I just feel like sharing.

Israel is better off without the US's support. Over the past 50 years, US been preventing a real intervention by the UN and numerous other international organizations. Has it helped anybody? US's constant involvment in other countries coused a prolonged war. Once Israel rejects the US' support, the UN forces will move in and forcefully devide the nation, relocate the refuges, establish the borders and hold peace untill the two countries establish a real relationship. People will get killed on both sides, many won't be happy about the borders, but in the end, people will accept it because the blood sheeding will stop. This is the better way because it will be more or less unbiased. Without the full external international militery intervention, the conflict will never see the day of peace. This post will be more effecting if I'd list the number of times US vetoed UN's decision to deal with the middle east conflict. Cyrus, do me a fav, find it and post it.

Did I manage come off this issue without favouring any sides? I hope so. Maybe anti-american side? Okay, I promised to keep it brief so no more bashing of the US.

in reference to my previous post.....what do you mean what was I smoking? Have you never read up on how Israel as a nation was created?

Ok, here's the quick rundown....after WW1, the British seized a large part of what used to be the Ottoman Empire (this included Palestine) and several of these broken up states became British Protectorates. After the Holocaust, thousands and thousands of Jews started going back to Palestine because the british government were planning on splitting up half the territory for the Jews (since it was their land until being conquered by Islam after the 7th century). To many fundamentalist Jews, the British did not act quickly enough and many extreme groups began carrying out terrorist acts on British military personnel, civilians and Arabs in cities such as Tel Aviv and Jerusalem. British soliders had their heads cut off.....their testicles smashed, hung from trees, etc. Have you not heard of the King David Hotel bombing.....over 120 people (mostly British) were killed in July 1947 by Jewish terrorists. After these events (and escalating problems in Turkey) the bankrupt British pulled out and handed the palestine/Israel problem over to the UN in 1948, who subsequently caved under AMERICAN pressure and made all of Palestine the new Israel.....basically ignoring the former British plan to divide the two nations equally.

So.....any Jewish people on here that were pissed off at my comment about Israeli terrorists in the late 1940's.....well, put a sock in it already.

we sing this song at work after a really busy rush is done

'The german and the Jew the german and the jew, one is casey the other is stu'

the song goes on, but thats when I stop singing.Casey and Stu are my bosses. They are best friends. one is german(stu) the the other jewish(Casey)

what does this have to do with anything?
NOTHING.
move this to political forum.

do you think that the term "militant" is appropriate for a person whos mission is to shoot and kill a 7 yr old girl? i don't think your friends are too sensitive on certain issues. you have to ask yourself what the mission of such a militant group really is.

and you have to ask yourself what is the mission of Isreal Milatry?
to me I think it looks the destruction of Phalastine.Stop blamming Phalastinans, and plus it seems like blamming sides itsnt helping the situation. Both side are responsible for their action, and in other to get some sort of peace both side should let th UN to handle the situaion, because frankly America is on Isreal side, and that just wont work.
