On a side note, some of you people REALLY need to stop automatically associating Jews with Israel. It's true that they are often mentioned together, but there are Israeli Arabs and Palestinian Jews, too. |

This thread can go on for longer then infinity ( or as long as people exists). Fact is as long as people view things as BLACK AND WHITE nothing will be achieved and sides will always be chosen. Like for Instance (WINK WINK);) ;) I think the CBC is biased. Well then another person will say it is not biased and you know the rest of the story.
You must make educated reasons why one is biased. Just stating your opinion on a matter because this is the way you feel is foolish (and most likely because you have not even looked at “both sides of the fence”). SO please next time you make a post like this, BACK IT UP WITH SOME COMMENTS
And the CBC is a great television station with shows like “The nature of things” and HOCKEY NIGHT IN CANADA(HNOC):toothless . Just because they dont put on Canadian Idol and ty “American shows” doesn’t make them a bad station. If you don’t like the CBC NEWS THEN STATE CBC NEWS, don’t state CBC:mad: .
I could write forever on this issue but I will not because I must take advantage of the SUMMER TIME:gsmile:

Ok, here's the quick rundown....after WW1, the British seized a large part of what used to be the Ottoman Empire (this included Palestine) and several of these broken up states became British Protectorates. After the Holocaust, thousands and thousands of Jews started going back to Palestine because the british government were planning on splitting up half the territory for the Jews (since it was their land until being conquered by Islam after the 7th century). To many fundamentalist Jews, the British did not act quickly enough and many extreme groups began carrying out terrorist acts on British military personnel, civilians and Arabs in cities such as Tel Aviv and Jerusalem. British soliders had their heads cut off.....their testicles smashed, hung from trees, etc. Have you not heard of the King David Hotel bombing.....over 120 people (mostly British) were killed in July 1947 by Jewish terrorists. After these events (and escalating problems in Turkey) the bankrupt British pulled out and handed the palestine/Israel problem over to the UN in 1948, who subsequently caved under AMERICAN pressure and made all of Palestine the new Israel.....basically ignoring the former British plan to divide the two nations equally.
So.....any Jewish people on here that were pissed off at my comment about Israeli terrorists in the late 1940's.....well, put a sock in it already. |
my intention in starting this thread was to see what people thought about the bias newscasting of CBC. it was not to get a 5th grader's perspective on the politics of the 1940s. I do not percieve the world in black and white. every nation or orginazation that wages military war on ANYONE will obviously be wrong in some its actions. however, if we are now talking about politics, Israel's goal is not the complete inihilation of the palestinian people, their homelands, and their 7yr old girls. there are groups that geographically surround Israel that have this very mission in regards to the "zionist" state. they have already tried numerous times. how many times has Israel been attacked in its 50 some odd years? the only way this country (AND ITS 7 YR OLD CHILDREN) survived was the military assistance from the "evil" Americans. it just pisses me off when the evils of people who's ambition is destruction are portrayed as equal with the need for survival. |

everytime there's a political thread in this forum it always erupts into a flurry of flames .. esp. considering that Toronto is so diverse with fiercely nationalistic ethnicities , a subject like this is only certain to cause arguments. This is not to say that we should not discuss matters like this or censor it, but there's a suitable time and place for everything (ie. hence the creation of the political forum.) but anyways, whatever .. |

A 5th grader hmm? How about a third year Honours history student at the university of Western Ontario who just happend to WRITE AN ESSAY on this very subject in first year, and received an 86 on that essay? Since more than half of you don't know what the you're talking about...I thought I'd give you a quick lesson on how Israel became a nation in the first place. |
