Why is Toronto trance scene so different from Montreal and Europe ?? (pg. 3)

The answer is simple - different cultures, way of life (meaning clubbing, socializing, etc, etc)... and yes, there are way more hot women over there (in Europe) for the reasons I am not yet ready to disclose to general public.

here's my 2 cents about this

after being at aria for about anywhere from 30 to 50 times (lost the count) in the last year and a half, these are my observations.

1-There's defienatly more girls at house music nights followed by prog then trance and finally techno.

2-The only trance dj that attracts a large female population is Tiesto (maybe because he's so popular now)

3-Montreal is more about house than some people tend to believe. Aria might be the only club in town that has a regular techno night, bringing big names accompanied by a solid line up of local techno djs.

4-The main reason why people don't want to go to after hours (edm clubs for you guys in TO) is the drugs, yes even here in Montreal. When I say after hour, the first thing I hear is "NO way too much drugs".

5-Why aren't people liking EDM music? Easy. Because frankly they haven't heard any or when they heard of it (and I am being broad on the definition of EDM) it was some freestyle crap or overplayed "techno" songs on a very crappy sound system. Or worse, they get introduced to EDM that doesn't have any melodics or progression (almost all of the techno genre, some house and some trance). It is very hard to like something that is so different to what you are used to.

Recently, I have litteraly converted two people to EDM. How did I do that? I got them to ride with me in my car, popped some very easy EDM to follow (Airdrawndagger by Sasha for example) and told them to pay attention to the layers, melodics and complexity of the tunes. Destroying their perception that "techno" is easy to produce. Then taking them from there, I made them listen some James Holden stuff, some other Sasha tracks, Digweed, very easy tracks. Both of my friends were amazed about the complexity and richness of this "techno" music. One of them was actually jumping in the car so much he was excited about the beats. Both were asking about events featuring this kind of music, they wanted to attend whatever the ticket price was.:stongue:

Its not that hard to convert people, you need to go easy and introduce some nice and relaxing tracks, then choosing harder and faster tracks as they become used to EDM. A set is generally a bad idea because they will get confused and loose intrest.

And the answer is.....Toronto sucks for trance....plain and simple. Sure, once in awhile they get out the big boys like Tiesto, Armin, etc....but Toronto tends to like it harder. Bah. Montreal is better.

One of your most politically incorrect and ignorant posts yet, vivid boy! Congrats!

Smitty, I must disagree with you on the Toronto thing. I've spent a fair amount of time travelling to Montreal for the SOLE REASON that the Montreal scene involves way more techno than Toronto. They do have a trance following there, but it is not the focus, I don't think. Toronto's is much more prominent, IMO.

well tell me how im wrong? i have friends who have done work for the triad and they told me that the triad have like million dollar contracts with these club owners...i dont know if they do anymore nor do i car nor should i be spreading that type of info but its true...next we'll move on to the female part of what i said...every girl that ive ever invited to a trance party (save for the few) have always said no i dont like seeing ppl cracked out... im just telling u from experience.. alot of ppl who are not into the scene think that trance parties are pretty much like raves so they dont go..and on my last point the majority of asians (i know their are many of you on this site but please dont be offended ) cant drive....sorry guys...but dont worry cause wops cant spell! portuguese cant smell good no matter how hard they try and polish people but stupid neon lights in their cars and paint eagles on ther huds in spray paint!! we all have our strengths and our wekanesses...

and on a side point toronto doesnt have that big of a trance/ house scene we're more known believe it or not for our jungle scene....

i think it's so interesting that people are saying pop and hip hop or whatever are "easier to dance to". i've never ever understood how anyone can dance to it. it's too slow, for the most part imo.

anyways, main thing is, the difference in culture is why it's different, which has already been said.

I agree completely...after all....Trance/House/Techno, etc is REAL dance music is it not? That's why all the REAL TALENTED Dj's spin electronic music and not ty rap and hip hop. That music is all about image and reputation and the hordes listen to it because they're brainwashed into thinking it's cool by the media.

all the people who dance to that aren't good dancers anyway...the girls just shake their ass and bounce their . It makes me horny and pissed off at the same time. Not that I'm a good dancer.......

I don't do drugs man...if that's what you're insinuating. Not that I care if people do them, but it aint for me. Alcohol and weed (though not at big events) are good enough.
