this arguement doesn't work, i don't like sammy but people who like rap like 50 cent and such.

OK here is the difference IMHO, Rap focuses mainly on what sells to the public a.k.a. pimpin bitches, smoking weed, shootin people and general thugging, but on the other hand, hip hop relys on lyrical diversity, intensity, overall flow of the music, and political views.

contrary to your belief, many people like sammy, just as many people like 50 cent and such. ( how did they get famous?) there are "tasteless" (in your opinion) people on both sides. i know many people that are into the rap scene, and i know none that are into 50 cent. i have recently learned to enjoy rap (road trip) and it's true, you have to "dig deep" to get to know and love it. i reccomend listening to a song called "home" by bone thugs-n-harmony. i know since you're tranceaddicts you will inevitably refuse to enjoy it, but at least give it a chance.

i think that every genre's focus is to sell music (including trance) whether thats by selling political views or mindless rambles about weed.

ya need the old school hip hop...mobb deep...krs one....gangstarr...slick rick...the roots...a tribe called quest...etc ;D

In KRS ONe's words ( seeing you mentioned him ) hip hop = graffiti, breakdance, and rap.

point being anyone who uses that term is either a ing player ( like so called top 40 hits rappers ) or someone who don't know jack .

Me being from the whole graffiti scene, and even if I don't affiliate with rap and hip hop as a whole, I still consider myself "hip hop" to some extent. Hip hop as an act, as your state of being, not as a generic term used to designate that you hear on the radio.

Get your facts straight kid, you f00 you speak like you is from da street when all you ever do is sit in front of yo pc and be dropping some lines of 'k' fake may it be and talk jack all day. Aplz da stupid ho you never been a real one. wanker

get a f*****g life :p

maybe not entirely. you make it sound like everyone will be a sellout.
i mean some people put out music just to get their voice heard, and sell a little if they can. not everyone wants to make $$$ just for the $$ itself..

rap
and hip pop (heh)
are very diff, ^^^ considering what i said..
remember what talib kweli said... some people "represent the street" he "represents the people in em" .. there's too much generalizing ..
sides if you don't like it don't listen to it. some people like using rap (ie words) to convey their feelings and add a beat to it. tranceaddicts on the other hand... :D
its a different state of mind
gangster rap is crap in my opionion, but i aint no hardk0r gangster type..

quote:

The word "peace" is just an expression
used to say bye when it's time to jet
and them red black and green medallions
was all just part of the trend, I guess
Hardly ever them around brothers' necks no more
Instead of that gold (gats ?)
inspiring gangstas and macks
who at the young age of four
be seeing more drama than war veterans
instead of learning God's laws
and hip-hop is ((all the ways ?) till we enlist that ??)
to express how we be feeling about this and that
but music does reflect life
and kids look up to what you're portraying
and mimic what you act like
It's time for a new day
an era in rap, conscious styles,
makin' them aware of the happenings
but their ears seem more steered towards
self-annihilation so then they might laugh
and write this off, like I'm out here just
blowing wind, maybe label us soft or unreal,
something they just can't feel, while they yell
"murder murder murder, kill kill kill"

Cool cool..I personally love a nice big wildstyle piece under a bridge or on the side of a train (not easy anymore since security is so tight in trainyards, plus federal offenses really dont appeal to me :P) but a throwie or a simple tag is always fun. :toothless: How was the scene where you used to live?

I only like 2 rap songs (new ones), 50 Cent - In da Club & David Banner - Get Down, thats it, everything sucks pretty bad.
I did like old school rap like 2 Pac, Notorious BIG, Dre, Snoop ... those are real rappers, right now "rappers" are a in' joke.
