I assume you want elaboration so in all seriousness, here it is. I've never seen anyone more hippocritical than some of the TA's in this thread. You guys make all these generalizations and stereotypes for rap. Well the same generalizations can be made for trance (ie. repetiveness, drug culture, DJ Sammy). The same generalizations can also be made for rock music, and even pop.
I dont know about rock, so hypothetically if I ask asomeone if theyre listening to punk rock when in fact they are listening to some other form of rock, naturally they will get pissed off. This is true in trance (DJ Sammy, Darude), and is true in rap, pop, and any other type of music.
The people here also go on and say how all the rap is the same. Again you can argue that any type of music is always the same. Trance always has a repetitive 4x4 beat with happy happy melodies; rap always has an uninspired beat and a black man rhyming about his fortunes; rock always has loud guitars and a white man screaming about life; pop always has a white woman talking about love. The point is, this is what music is! Every song sounds like any other song from its genre.
So I'm just saying, since you guys are always off thinking you're cool listening to trance and no one else knows quality trance, what about the people who are playing underground rap or underground rock? What of them?
Now I'm not gonna even argue about rap. I'll just leave it at this. |
Wicked post, want to add this: Music is subjective, and not factual, just because you don't like it, doesn't mean it sucks. |

side note. Dont give me the bull of "this is how they live"
if people were into reality, wed be gettin al queda rap and african AIDS songs. They are selling IMAGE not SYMPATHY. No one gives a about how hard a life of doin drugs and shootin niggahs is. They are selling it as the REAL life, the life where the hard mofos go.
thats my point |

I was talking to everyone in general. But while we're at it, how come all the trance I hear is crap on:
A. On the Radio
B. MTV
C. From my friends
D. Frat and house parties
E. Sports cars with paint jobs
I guess that means theres no good trance if A through E is all I hear. |
