I think its extremely twatty how some people act towards new members when they have no way of knowing they are doing anything wrong. Its not so long ago there was a pinned thread in the chillout section offering help for the EMC hub members.

I think its an excuse for people to feel big, and its completely out of order

Your statement seems very opinionated which is good but dont take too much of a defensive position. I understand what you mean, I myself was once a newbie that goes without saying so or else I wouldnt be here right now talking about it. Im just addressing the fact that people post such topics pertaining to the hub or "getting tracks/mp3s"

On that note I ask if people are ignorant to the fact that RIAA is addressing this situation or they blantly dont know. Im aware that this issue basically exist only in the USA. But lets be realistic, people from around the world know that this exist. Please dont tell me that you have not heard of this in the news.

So maybe newbies do come into our forums unknowing that TA.com does not support filesharing. Now I question their integrity, they are on the internet and they know RIAA is addressing this issue but they still feel fine posting/requesting filesharing information. That I find obnoxious. So I look at how we (TA members) respond to this, we flame or make obvious statements that the new member doesnt know. Fine, we teach them the rules, no problem. We close their threads, delete them, whatever we please.

As a community which thrives on "music" we need to find a better way to address this requesting situation alittle better. Something to make it obvious that TA.com does not support filesharing and to not look for it on our site. Perhaps a closed sticky with a definite statement. I personally dont want to see TA turn into a downloading fiasco, we are a community about music. Supporting it, publishing it, reporting it, like any other genre of music. Fans of- type of people.

As for heaven scent's comment, I think we need to refrain from the flaming mentality and address it cordially. Trust me, we arent trying to "feel big" about it, we are just concerned that our community may be viewed suspect if we dont address these issues.

Again, please openly discuss and refrain from FLAMING. This is our community, our message board, our culture - TRANCE: A State of Mind.

my thoughts exactly! They are new. Give em a little break. But they should be aware to read the FAQ's section.
buddy
imo, any conversations about potentially illegal activity (drugs, file sharing, raping your neighbors dog) should be kept to pm strictly for the reason that they are potentially illegal.

I just feel that when I see a new joining member ask for downloading sources, im not sure if they are ignorant to the RIAA situation or are they blantantly not knowing. Some may argue that members do join in hopes of expanding their musical horizons which is fine, but by all means please become familiar with the community prior to asking for anything. Its like the analogy I stated above. Would you walk into any supermarket or grocery store asking employees for free merchandise. vs regularly attending the same local grocery store and the employees offering a free sample of products they sell. from a marketing standpoint its legitmate but from a consumer's point of view the initiative should be taken from the prioprietors POV, not the consumers. You want the store to make the offer to show ur loyalty. Maybe my analogy is too indepth but the fact of the matter is you dont ask for something when its not offered. This leaves me with the assumption if RIAA is trying to sabotage tranceaddict.com by posting up fake request for downloadable music. tranceaddict.com doesnt support filesharing for once and for all. So please read the rules of all forums and understand that this EDM Community is about community growth and not about filesharing. You'd be surprise, some people of these boards have talent...they are only trying to express it.

your analogy about the supermarket really doesnt make much sense....the employees at a supermarket get payed a salary from the corporation that runs it...and if they gave free items away then the store would suffer and maybe their pay...on the other hand tranceaddict is not a store and does not make profits from the sale of music....so there is a huge difference between asking here for music and going into a store and asking for free items....

And i have seen you request things on a few occasions....

Newbies are called newbies because they simply do not know where to get stuff....and they are excited about it and jump the gun and ask questions anywhere they can to find music....it doesnt make them stupid nor does it make them jerks...they just do not have certain resources, that at one point or another you did not have either...

Give up the elitist attitude...u DO download, u ARE on hubs, u HAVE requested tracks....
slinkyhead
i have bought alot more vinyl since iv been downlaonding stuff. For example i might hear something on ASOT which i quite like. I d/l it and the more i listen to more i need it. I then trawl through online record shps and find it. My problem is there are very few records shops that sell good trance in the Bmth area so the majority of the time i use the internet. Also if sum1 is going on about a good song and i d/l it and realize its really good then il buy it.If i dont like it i wont buy it.

But the best thing bout downloading is getting live sets i love em

read my post on the 2nd page - im not saying they are jerks or that their stupid, ur receiving my statements as if they were flame intended which they arent. Im addressing the attitude exactly like yours to me. its just funny that i am the one to happen to mention that this needs to be addressed. im asking if new comers are ignorant to REALITY news or they just dont know. Maybe they dont know but with the RIAA impacting many communities, out of us - the new users who post, are they NOT AWARE of RIAA or are they RIAA themselves. LOLS please dont misinterpret my statements.

As per requesting things? There is a difference between requesting information about sets/mp3s to gain personal knowledge, as opposed to joining TA with less that 10posts and blantantly saying WHERE CAN I GET FERRY CORSTEN@Galaxy Mixmasters. Do you follow me? Please dont criticize me, im not criticizing anyone. Remember its OPEN DISCUSSION not a FLAME war. I understand that in a discussion, the stronger opinionated people make their statements which may be received inappropriately. This is why I have repeatedly stated, please no FLAME WAR. I want the "tranceaddicts in training" to look in here and see the discussion, rather than open up a thread about elitist battling, or higher powered MEMBERS. There is no such thing here. We are a community, not a caste system. My example being DJs/Producers (professional and amateur) are on this board as well. So your elitist mentality seems to only exist in your mind.

Be clear man, cuz when your not people mistake your words for your attitude. You see dave dresden on the boards, along with airbase and others who Im not even sure is on this board. The fact of the matter is if you believe that there is an elitist mentality on these boards, then you have closed your mind to it and accepted it. Trust me if there was an elitist mentality, you wouldnt find DJs/Producers lurking the boards. We've built a great community here at TA. lets not let our attitudes clash. Remember im Pro-TA and Pro-EDM Community. I like what we got, but blantantly asking for music is a bad reflection on us, yea it happens, yea we address it, but lets ask WHY it happens, WHY we react the way we do. This way we can formulate a better solution rather open up FLAME WARS.
