EXACTLY! CO2 emissions kill more people and cause more diseases than second hand smoke in any given year...

Source please.

yeah...how about we just ban alcohol outright because it gives people liver disease and people who drive drunk kill people in car accidents. Or how about we ban junk food because it contributes to the obesity of North America, kills thousands upon thousands every year and drains the healthcare system?

You choose those things for yourself. But non-smokers can't choose to get away from second hand smoke in a club.

and people who get killed by drunk drivers can't choose either...so I guess we should just ban alcohol outright. It's the same argument...the government and people decided to honour one and not the other.

Well, drinking and driving is illegal so your point doesn't make sense.

sure it does. It's illegal, but people still do it...the only way to curtail the problem is to ban alcohol outright in bars/club, etc...but of course that WON'T happen. But smoking can be banned...it's hypocritical and inconsistent government action.

Besides...the government will NEVER ban either of these two products..they make far too much money off of it.

no one is banning anything. they are just limiting the areas you smoke it. you are fighting a losing battle. every big city is going to eventually ban smoking in bars/clubs/restaurants you might as well get used to it.

Every big city in our not-so-free-anymore North American society will ban smoking, yes, but it doesn't mean I, or other smokers, have to like it. I have a very hard time believing that Europe will ban smoking anywhere and since I'll probably end up there in the next few years, all the power to them.

Besides...I live in London and it's already totally non-smoking since June. I'm dealing with it just fine, but all the good bars/clubs built heated patios for the smokers and guess what...there are MORE people outside at any given time than inside in most places. That says a lot right there.....

the way i look at it , me being a smoker, it would help me quit. because at the club is where you tend to smoke the most.

yea, exactly

and I can definately see where the non-smokers are coming from and how it annoys them. i know it'll definately be hard for me to not smoke in a club the first few times this would come into effect.

well...thats the thing...we dont' know how clubs here in toronto will adjust to it. Guv has a patio, but I'm not going out there in January or February, thank you very much.

if they have room to build a patio, I think Toronto clubs/bars should follow the London example...build a semi enclosed patio outside the club, on top of it or behind it...and then set up 3 or 4 good electric heaters...problem solved. It's working quite well in London...as I said...it's busier outside than inside.

But I realise there are space issues in Downtown Toronto that could pose a huge problem. Oh well...when I was in New York last year, I just had a smoke in the bathroom.:D
