Idk, I weigh in somewhere between hope and realism. Milwaukee may never support the quality of edm acts that larger cities do, but there are also new markets to connect with. One thing going for this city is that it has a thriving indie arts scene, many "out of box" thinkers, and an extremely diverse population.

Think about how House and Techno got their start in the first place . . . there was nothing conventional or predictable about the inception, it just came out of some creative people following their influences into new territory. I like to think that revolution is always possible on fertile ground like that of Milwaukee's.

Discuss anyone?

I've actually been coming across a lot of house and tech house djs from the milwaukee area, although amateur, or up and coming. Im surprised by this. Makes me think there's a lot of possibilities.

the thing is, there's "underground" stuff that happens consistently in milwaukee- you should've seen some of the weird-ass studio/loft/record store-raves i've played at or at least been to around here. it's just not the type of medium that i want to use as an outlet for my creativity.

the worst part is that in my opinion there are tons of people around here that are receptive to EDM culture- but no one can bring them all together to share the experience.

and about the "indie art scene," while i agree, i feel that in general that crowd are the stereotypical hippie/indie-rock kids.

True, but don't they deserve a chance to be original? We are all punters at some level or another, just ask Tiesto, haha!

I am right there with you about it being all but impossible to bring the masses together in this town. And it does make business sense to move somewhere to which there is a more enthusiastic scene.

Nothing much on Friday, James Amato has some big splash at Three on Saturday though.

that could be an argument in itself as i believe that no one is original, no matter how individualistic they think they are. in the end i don't personally have a problem with the wisco scene, i just would rather be somewhere that's more receptive to the style of music i enjoy and play. milwaukee and its little music scene will still be there when i'm gone :p

Well if you'd just stop mixing and producing technically sound music and start crudely hammering out dubstep and drum and bass you'd have nothing to complain about.

We all can grow a bit jaded, can we not?

I have been living all over Wisconsin for most of my life. I have also been in love with EDM for 12 years. My dream is for there to a be a local scene here in Wisconsin, but because of the current lack of one I just spread the word as much as I can. DJ to friends, get them to fall in love with the music.
