As you can imagine I've been subjected to all kinds of talk about this, most of it bull from bandwagon canucks fans that don't watch our team until the playoffs are on, ugh. :whip:

Bertuzzi should get 12 games, which would be consistent with all other infractions of this type in the NHL. The people comparing this to McSorley's stick swing on Brashear are idiots. It's a bloody shame that Moore got as injured as he did, and it's fortunate that early reports are in his favour for making a full comeback, but while the hit was a blatant cheap-shot it was still definitely not Bertuzzi's intention to ram him head first into the ice afterwards and cause that much injury. Had bert not tripped over his stick and lost his balance after the first punch Moore would have had a broken jaw and that would have been the end of the whole debate.

What pisses me off more than anything about this whole fiasco is the amount of idiot media people reporting how awful the game of hockey is now because of this. Jesus Christ, if you don't like it don't ing watch it or play it. These players know the dangers of the game and the risks they are taking by playing it, and if that's too much for people to handle then they can go watch baseball and curling.

Anyways, best wishes to Steve Moore for a speedy recovery.

pathetic gutless display...hitting a guy from behind with a sucker punch..he is a canadian..he knows you settle it man to man without the cheap shots...lamer

give him a year suspension tbh

naslund is a crybaby...had his head down and got hit..nothing new in hockey....have your head down..you get HIT!...and usually injured and the hit was legal...so all the canucks fans can SHUT IT!

awesome view exactly what i was gonna say...and abt ppl saying how hockey is so violent..that really pissess me off...if u dont want to watch it change the channel...i was listening to the radio and they were having ppl calling in , mostly women bitching abt how they should take fighting out of the game.."they have to change the rules to make it less violent...im sorry but this is coming from a bunch of women who dont watch the sport and dont even know what the the rules are! and ur trying to dictate how the game should be played? nuh uh..."i have children who play hockey and im very scared when theyre on the ice because of other kids wanting to beat them up" like for sakes ur kid is gonna grow up in a world filled with violence...im sure a hockey fight wont be the last fight he'll ever be in so he might as well learn at a young age how to defend himself...as for todd bertuzzi i agree he should be suspended and whatever punishment the NHL feels fit ill stand by it...but theyre treating the man like a savage..."oh he started punching him after he knocked him unconcious" how the was todd suppose to know the guy was unconcious and had a broken neck?

Moore's hit on Naslund was a cheapshot; Moore went visibly out of his way to ram Naslund even though he didn't have the puck, and the league needs to do a better job of preventing bums like Moore from doing that to the league's star players. FYI, Naslund was not whining about it at all.

Regardless of the nature of Moore's hit on Naslund, Bertuzzi's reaction was not warranted and was really cheap. In Bert's defense he was trying to antagonize Moore before doing it but Moore was deliberately ignoring him.

12 games is what similar attacks have gotten in the past, and that's what it should get this time as well.

Should at least be suspended through the playoffs - even though it wasn't his intent to injure him as badly as he did, the act was still cheap and malicious and can't be tolerated. Plus, it was a premeditated revenge shot on what was a legal hit in the first place.

No ! I think the fact that Bertuzzi kept punching shows exactly what his intentions were: to kick Steve Moore's ass. He didn't intend to knock Moore out with one punch and slam him into the ice. Still, it happened and he needs to own up to his actions, but like you said the league will handle this fairly and I'll stand by that decision. Hoepfully Bert will be back for the playoffs, and if not, thank God we got Rucinsky and Sanderson.

I almost hope they let Bertuzzi off the hook just so I can see the reaction of all the aforementioned crybabies, lol.

Naslund didnt whine - CAN Moore even whine at this point? He may have use of his arms and legs, but he cant be transported out of Van much less 'whine' about it as you put it|
torontotrance
he is done for the 2004 season...that a given

the hit that nailed naslund was legal....the league needs to tell it's superstars...keep your ing head up

Tell that to Moore's mother, or his wife, or children (if applicable).

"Risks"? You make it sound so ... ho-hum.

Right, I'm sure that hockey players (especially rookies!) go out on the ice thinking, "OK, I may or may not be punched in the back of the head and have my face driven into the ice, suffer a concussion and a broken neck, then be in a hospital for the rest of the season! How exhilarating!"

No. This is not an acceptable "risk" in hockey. This was a brutal display of violence that has NO place in ANY sport, even the "rougher" sports like hockey.

It's not that those that protest against hockey's violence are "wussies", it's simply that they are shocked and appalled by the senseless and brutal violence.

Incidents like these make hockey seem more like a gladiator's match to the death, instead of any kind of "sportsmanlike" enterprise.

My $0.02.

again, my post doesnt infer hockey players are all monsters - or even that Bertuzzi is - just that you need to be accountable and he was obv knocked out after the punch.
