LOL :D I really do not understand why everyone thought Ferry was good. Compared to recent Toronto sets by PVD, Infected Mushroom, Armin etc, Ferry's set was absolutely brutal.
Sure there were a few great tracks that put a smile on my face and made me dance like a crazy f&ck, but damn, he shouldn't play 8 hours if he only has enough good material for 3. |

I try not to post too much in reviews for events that I wasn't at, but I don't think there's any need to bitch at the people who thought it sucked. Everyone is entitled to their opinions. Some people happen to think that on a truly good night, they shouldn't *have* to "stay positive" and consciously ignore all the that pisses them off. I also don't think that it makes them "elitists" or "spoiled" to think that either, because after all, a lot of those same elitists go to regular nights-out and have great times without any headliners or big crowds or special decor or fancy sound systems; the real elitists are the ones who insist that everyone MUST have a good time *because* of the fancy lights and sound and popular DJs.
Anyway I didn't hear Ferry's set so I have no clue how good it was - but as for the comments relating to the crowd and the club itself, I'm not in the least bit surprised, it's the reason why I'll rarely go to Guv anymore even on special events, and I'll reiterate that I'm glad I didn't go. In all honestly, to all the people who insist on arguing with the bad reviews, shame on you, your attitudes are the reason why massive money-makers like the Guv continue to treat their patrons like cattle and get away with it every time.
Sorry I'm not in my "positive vibe" mode tonight, but it irks me to see the Vibe Nazis scolding everyone who didn't "force" themselves into having a better night. Anyway, I won't post in this thread anymore, but keep the reviews coming everyone. :) |

| Aaron, if you think this review thread is painful, don't open the Montreal review of Ferry at Aria. |

They could've at least opened Gold Club Lounge! Yet they decided to save some cash, and just stick us all in the main room. Bastards ! |
FYI:
DE'LUX Lounge is currently going through major renovations..That's why it was not open to public... |

I actually did expect that it would be less packed considering Digweed was spinning at Kool Haus, cause I thought Guv management would be smart enough to put a higher draw DJ at Kool Haus.

well half the crowd at guv didnt know who the hell ferry corsten was, and they didnt know who digweed was. so even if ferry nd digweed were in the kool haus, the guv wouldve still been packed, bcuz those people only went there bcuz they know the club is called "guvt." they didnt go there bcuz they were expecting ferry corsten or digweed. this one guy came up to me and asked me how can he requests songs, i told him which track does he want to hear, and he said "dr.dre", :stongue: im liek buddy ur in the wrong room. thats wat makes me think half the people in guv didnt know wth was goin on. :stongue: |

Ferry rocked, as usual...but it was not his best set that I've heard...for an 8 hour set, he could have thrown in some more classics, IMHO.
My friends (chrismack, beanieboy and a lurker) left around 8am...I don't think I've ever stayed that long at Guv. We all chilled for a while together and I think I went to sleep around 2:30 this afternoon until 6...ugh...burnt out...I couldn't muster either the mental capacity or the strength to post a review until now.
Night started off AWFUL...got there at 11:15 (dumb, I know) and waited in line for 1:45 + coat check. Messy fawkers everywere. While in line, some drunk fuk could barely stand, literally stumbling down the street and fell into someone walking beside him, knocking him down too...then some girl was sitting on the curb puking into the sewer. Someone else was peaking already in line. WTF is wrong with people?
To top off the frustration, while beanieboy and I were in line, our other two friends were whisked in the back door and messaged us from the DJ booth, standing beside Ferry while we frooze our asses off outside...bastards! ;)
Got in around 1am, bitter as hell...I almost lost in on some cutting the coat check and pretty much freaked out on anyone else who tried...but within a half hour Ferry made it all worthwhile :)
The crowd...jeez...PACKED!!! Ferry was hyped though...seemed to really enjoy himself...I really like to see that from a DJ. The electro influence on the new CD is a nice change and he really played that up throughout the night. The light grid was apparently shut off (obstructed the screens?) which was kind of weird.
We talked to quite a few cool people from all over...some were TAs...London, upstate NY, etc...and my brutal "hometown" of Scarborough :p PM me if you remember me, lol...cause I'm brutal with names...Looking forward to hopefully meeting up again at Armin!
Yeah, the sound system was NOT good at some points...it was really distorted at times...maybe it's time to fine tune the Phazon? and WTF was Ferry spinning towards the end??? It was Richie Hawtin boredom all over again...I was having horrible flashbacks to System bored out of my mind with the crappy dark monotony of those tracks...thankfully he picked it up again. It was SO bad, I thought he was trying to make everyone leave, lol.
ha...everyone going on about Digweed and the place was apparently half capacity...next time maybe they'll put the STAR attraction in the bigger space :D It was so pathetic that security was asking people to go in through KH where there was almost no line, pay the extra $$$ for wristbands to get into Guv. that...as I suspected, some people got denied entry for a while into Guv anyway because it was so rammed. So they paid double and had to wait after all? That's ed. Coat check was a nightmare too. SO many people lost their tickets that it took forever to get out of there.
All in all, a very good night...a bit of drama but the cool people and great music made up for it...looking forward to Decadence where I'll be firmly planted in KH for the night :) |

im not liking Ferry's new electro/trance mix too much. I remember his set in February 2002 to be one of the most epic sets that ive ever heard. So much energy and craziness.
The days when Corsten used to drop Eon- Pocket Damage and Push - the legacy... were memorable.
I think the crowd pumped me up more than the actual songs.
Sometimes i wish i had Cyclops's power so i could easily stare at someone who pisses me off.. and have the pleasure of watching them being torn to bits. <---this is refering to annoying people last night.
But it was okay night. Im not going to complian about the crowd and smoke becuase its just as futile as complaining about it when Tiesto comes...its expected. |

Perfect. Awesome. Wonderful. Night. I loved Kid Vicious and even Diggie spun a pretty OK set. I think Ferry's been working out!!
Trance night so we got to hear what we love the most. I don't think anyone was really disappointed. |

That's not true at all, sorry but it's not. I actually found a ton of actual FANS in the club (including bartenders)--ie who knew his productions, songs, etc. A special event like this brings in people for the music more so than to UltraSpin and things like that.
It seems to me like you talked to a couple people and you got the wrong impression. Tbat's a shame, because I really loved the crowd. (Though it was a little crowd-ED lol). |

That's ridiculous. What about the Guv Sound System? You should check out an ordinary Sat night when they don't have an unmanagable crowd. It's a fukin wicked party. |
