two great movies that come to mind;

revenge of the nerds: a touching tale about a rag-tag bunch of misfits who overcome society's prejudice against them and prove that they aren't just nerds - they're nerds in a movie.

footloose: a touching tale about a retarded big city kid banished to the pits of dullville and seeks redemption in music by racing traktors and wearing really tight jeans.

Loved Mystic River....refreshing to see a more 'realistic' portrayal of events in a Hollywood movie than is usually the case...and huge thumbs up for the distinct absence of a stereotypical Hollywood resolution to the story....

Lost in Translation..what a gorgeous, beautiful movie. the disconnection and alienation the characters feel is conveyed so successfully. the relationship between scarlett johansson and bill murray seemed so pure, which i really liked. it's a really intimate kind of film; loved the slow pace of it all, although that could be seen as annoying to others. excellent scenery and soundtrack!! mmm...air & my bloody valentine...very nice indeed.

+1 :D

21 Grams was excellent too. incredibly intense and raw. great acting. really liked the non-linear and the multiple perspectives.

ok, maybe not EVER.. but close too. I'm actually a fan of those kind of movies so maybe its because I was expecting more of it when walking in too see it only to be disappointed. Cool cast, but with an extremely poor cliched plot.. oh well ! Desperado definitly owned it.

Best movie I've seen lately is The Fog of War. Documentary/biopic about Robert McNamara, Secretary of Defence during the Cuban Missile Crisis and the early stages of the Vietnam War. Very thought-provoking movie, highly recommended (though a lot of you might find it boring :p).

I thought The Last Samurai wasn't anything special. I can't stand Tom Cruise though, he can't act for .

Last night's viewing was American Pie 3, why oh why did this get made? Different writer and director, and it's totally apparent through the whole movie. The original AP was a half-decent movie, the sequel was basically an excuse to get more money, but this one was just . Only a handful of laughs, and most of those feel totally laboured and you can see them coming about 5 minutes away. Note to film-makers: disgusting does not equal funny.

Tranzmit
but thats the thing, in America disgusting does equal funny sadly
