small quibble... they got what they deserved for pearl harbor? that's harsh... no one should be subjected to nuclear warfare, i think that the physical effects from the two atomic bombs are still being felt today, almost 60 years later. no one deserves such a fate... i'd have to agree with everything else. haha... STAR WARS... does anyone else remember that failed reagan plan? heh. no more from my end :) |
Small rebuddle. Agreed, The nukes were harsh and it is unfortunate and sad that people are still feeling the effects of them. But what happened at Pearl Harbor was ed up. At that time, how else could anyone have expected the US to act? Retaliation was in order, just maybe not to that extent. I'm sorry if my previous comments offended, but that stupid "son a ma bich" got the best of me. For that I apologize. I'm usually more level headed. Just a bad day at work today isn't helping. |

no personal attack, but i just have a very strong view i would like to share regarding what you're saying. america as a whole is so clueless about the rest of the world, that doesn't mean im speaking about you or people in the forums... the population at large could care less what happens outside their town or state. the country already focuses only on itself and has problems relating with others due to its history of isolationism. it is easily arguable that every time it steps in to other countries, it is only to serve a purpose for itself. people may be dying of starvation, but a hell of a lot more in the world have no access to food. this country burns excess crop to keep prices right when other countries just don't have it. i see something wrong with this picture. and i see something wrong with suggesting that americans should take even less of an interest about the world.... it might be richest country, but to think that is all there is to life is just wrong. ignorance only adds to problems. as for the issues within the country, the fact is no one gives a damn about anyone else. each person is out for their own welfare and wants to hit the jackpot, that is the extent of their in concerns, and the dollar is valued above anything else. they don't give a damn who's starving where. there is definitely a lot wrong in policy both inside and outside.

We focus so much on what is wrong with other places in the world that we seem to lose focus on what's wrong within our country. People are dying of starvation, of AIDS, etc. etc. What's wrong with putting our countries needs first before other places. We need to better life for us before we can worry about bettering life for someone else. |

Excellent points! I seemed to have overlooked what you have mentioned. There are some world concerns that we should be involved in, which you have clearly mentioned in the above paragraph. Just to site one example of something we shouldn't be involved in, at least in my opinion, is trying to help Israel & Palestine "fix" their problems. There is a "holy war" that has been going on forever between those to countries. Who are we to tell one side that this part belongs to you and not to you? I honestly feel that we should mind our business and let them work it out themselves. As far as the domestic concerns, it's unfortunate that your point is correct, the majority of Americans could give a about world concerns, as long as they keep getting the "dolla bills" in their pockets. Too many people don't realize that money isn't everything, and that although it is a necessity, it still is the root of all evils. So, no personal attack taken or no hard feelings, just appreciation for bringing your view point to my attention. Thanks!;) |

Just as everyone had calmed down, you had to come in and resurrect this thread? Was this really necessary? Did you feel that jamezny1 has not been bashed enough or that we haven't argued enough already? Do you miss him or do you get satisfaction from stirring things up? Give it a rest! |
