I have the same soundcard and in preparation for Doom III when I get my copy tomorrow I wanted to update all the drivers. I noticed on the Soundblaster website, they just released an update for the Audigy 2 on July 29th so maybe try downloading that. |

I played like the first level.. yet i think i still am on the first level, because i haven't encountered any creatures yet. It's a very nice looking game, except i'm not sure if i have the proper minimum requirements to be running this at all. It's not running smooth at all, really low fps if you ask me. I even run it on window in the smallest size setting as well. The specs on my comp are :
Athlon XP 2200+
736mb Ram
GeForce4 MX 440
is there anything i can do to push up my fps?.. im too lazy to read on other forums, but since im on TA all the time, i might as well ask you guys. |

There will probably be a guide out soon with all the things you can tweak, so I'd look out for that.
Not sure what Eis was expecting out of the game, the game was made to be a remake of the original, and plus It's Doom, you can't expect strategy. I personally prefer the WW2 strategy FPS games, but I'm goin to give this one a try. Hopefully that friend of mine and another programmer will be able to create a few mods for Doom soon.
Once I get the game im only goin to play after 10:00PM with all the lights off and my speakers cranked up, that way I can get the full effect. :) |

Ive read around and I remember the MX440 being the gfx card for the min. requirements. So in short I would suggest getting a better gfx card, beside the MX440 is a massive bottleneck on your system. If your on a budget, I would suggest Radeon 9500pro or 9700pro. There are other cards, but iam an ATI fan through and through.
Havent tried/downloaded this game yet. Wont until I get my new system:
-PentiumŪ P4 3.0C - 800MHzFSB
-Abit IC7-G
-512PC3200 RAM(possibly 1gig if i find some more money)
-Radeon 9700pro
I would be more interested in the opinions of ppl who have bought it, because I have the time to decide if this game is worth the money. |

it doesn't run perfect on my machine, but i do get 100+fps as long as its not combat, then it drops to maybe 30 :(.
but oh well. tweak tweak and more tweak.
good game though. |

yeah... wtf is all the graphic tweaking options? grrr...
so far, this game is nuts. But I really wish you could use the flashlight with a weapon equipped.
Aside from that, beautiful graphix (even if I do have to play on low q) and intense, good ol-fashioned Doom gameplay. |

its a little boring, but i does manage to scare you a few times.
The weapons are the most boring i've ever played. altho, very cool in a way. The plot is boring aswell but who gives a when its basicly just to aim and spray? Games is running fine on 3.0 ghz, 2048 RAM, 256 mb Ati Radeon 9800. 1024x - high quality textures as game settings.
overall ok game, but i expected more. Looking forward to HL 2 more.

That's some useful info overdose, thanks, but other than a better video card, does the processor play a big part, in terms of gameplay? I asked my friend earlier today and he said it be best if i were to buy a better processor as well. |

| the gameplay is really bland imo. the old doom was never this dark. I dont like how you basically only see 1/7th of your screen (flashlight radius) most of the time |
