I just got done playing through a few levels - I think it deserves its own fresh thread.
Holy is this game amazing. Its SCARY as hell, the shadows, sound, and well timed events really come together well, and the result is... well, I've got mixed feelings about it. For one thing, this game is amazing, definately a classic. Its simply a joy to play. But at the same time, I also hate playing it because it scares the out of me.
Play it in the dark on a good sound system. |

| It has not been released in the stores yet so I take it you just downloaded it? I've had my copy pre-ordered for months. I'll be able to pick it up August 4th. |

| A friend of mine has had this copy preordered for in' ever and got his copy today. So it's possible he got it legally, :) There are however copies floatin around everywhere of the full game, shouldn't be that hard to get, but I will prefer to buy this one. |

Same here. Your friend is a lucky bastard! :) EB is where I pre-ordered mine and I can't pick it up until tomorrow. Yes its tempting to just download it but something this awesome which has been in the making for years deserves my 50 bucks. |

I'll tell you something, the game plain sucks ass!
It's repetitive as HELL, It's boring as HELL, It's just doom (1991) with cool sound fx, and added shadows + low contrast..
Gameplay is from the age of pc-dinosaurs (1991), you just can't do anything, click or otherwise. Just plain shoot & run.
It ain't scary either because in 99% of the rooms there are monsters, so no surprises there.

You've just described pretty much every FPS game ever created.
Anyways, yeah we used a torrent, I'll be buying one next time I head to the store. |

| i'd say the game is good but it really isnt my type. serious sam was the last game like this i really enjoyed purely cause of its randomness but theres nothing really new in this game that hasnt been done already. the storyline seems a little half-life-ish too. |

what are the pc specs?
i have a 1.6ghz, 512 mem, 64MB geforce 3 ti200... etc...
will it run on my comp?? |

Those specs are pushing the min requirements. I believe its 1.5Ghz, 512MB ram, and GF3 is min.
I have a Ti4200, AMD 2600+, 1GB PC2700 Ram and i am running it at 800x600 full all settings other than AA and its running very smooth. I may try to bump it up to 1024x768 and see if i loose massive frames.
Game is not bad so far. Its a bit too dark for my liking. I find myself squinting half the time to see what is there. Couple parts are pretty scary, audio is well done. Graphics are good but since enemies come so fast its hard to just sit and look at them. The game has the most basic controls I've ever seen in a FPS I think. Its just fire, jump, crouch, and reload heh. |
