Game runs at 50fps 1024x768 med settings with system in my sig.

I just defeated the first boss, then it crashed, I have to beat it again :(

scary as hell, tho it is very repetitive.
textures on the models is top stuff, shame about the low detail environment textures

I've pretty much have been doing nothing more than playing it since i got it monday night. It's so damn adictive. One thing people need to remember, this game was more or less made to drive the industry and make people want to upgrade. So if you don't have really good hardware don't expect to play it.

Its longer than I thought it was gonna be. Most of the recent games that have come out i've beaten in 3 days or so. I'm not even in the delta labs yet and I've been playing it a couple hours each day since Monday.

what are you guys running the game on?

i have to put the medium quality at 1024x768 resolution to get no lag on my 9800 pro. i wish i could take advantage of that ultra quality feature w/ a 1280x1024 resolution :(

I brought this up in another forum but you would think that 150 years in the future they would have lights built into a helmet or like a lapel light on your jacket... The guy is using a flashlight which puts out less light than my mini maglite.

They even have lights on militry riffles these days.

I played the original 1991 doom through when it was released, as a few days ago I played the doom3 through. I'd say doom3 was a dissapointment in many ways. It was too repetitive "oh a another lab" and the gameplay was just too 1991, atmosphere was great from time to time, but mostly crap because there were monsters in almost every room, unlike for example system shock 2 which is a gem.

As a doom remake I'd give doom3 10/10, but when looking at today's standars in gaming regarding plot and overall playability doom deserves nothing but 5/10. Graphics are still great with all the shadows etc, and that's what ID is good at: making fps engines...
And if someone would say "yeah fps games are repetitive" I'd say well Serious Sam games are repetitive and still better than doom3.

Overall Doom3 is higly overhyped, hopefully this is not the case with HL2...

Doom3 ran smoothly on my machine:

1800+ Athlon XP
512MB ram
ATI radeon 9800pro 128MB
950GB Hd
Windows XP

I hope you will enjoy the MODS for Doom3 ;)

I'm running it a 1280x1024 with high resolution at high quality with all effects on and 2x anti-aliasing with no lag ( wish I could do 16 x and ulta quality )

***GAME SPOILERS

passed the entire marine base, blasted through a ton of hell....right now im taking a break at the boss with the flying gaurdians.

So far, im greatly impressed with the game. Yes, it is essentially the 2004 remix of Doom I, but Im a sucker for the Doom storyline, and I like how they added elements in from the little known Doom novelas. Im also interested in how far the story line goes. Will we get to fight the aliens on earth? Or will there be a DoomIV release (aka DoomII [2004 Remix])

**SPOILERS OVER**

great game. not the best ever, but enough to get me excited.
