I pointed out the same concern earlier in this thread, but only because I remembered it from the Track Of The Year threads.
A 10 to 1 point scheme isn't going to work for this one. It skews results far too much toward the top entries in each list. |

| I agree. points should be 100, 99, 98 etc. Probably get a more accurate vote! |

c'mon, don't take this topic too serious. in each way, it will be in the end a "trend chart", not an ultimate, 100% by everybody acceptable, representative top 100 list. |

Sure, I guess there are a lot of different ways of doing this.
Although... the main goal here is to find a fair way to just rank the results. If the #1 song gets 100 points and #10 gets 55... it's kind of like saying that the number #10 song is only half-as-good as the #1 song. That too will skew the results (although not as much as a 10-point system).
by the way... it's too late now, but another way to do this would be ro ask people to submit 10 songs with a score next to them.
you get to score each song out of 100... but no two songs can have the same score.
FOr example, if I think my top 3 choises are amazing, but rest are just good then I could do this:
01 - 100
02 - 99
03 - 98
04 - 64
05 - 63
06 - 62
07 - 33
08 - 32
09 - 31
10 - 30
It would be my way of saying that i think my #1 choice is 3 times better than my #7 choice... but only a little better than my #2 or 3 choice.
Ideally, if we graph the top 100 scores, we'd want to see each song get a few more points than the next.. the #1 song should have just about twice as many points as the #50 song... and the #50 should have twice as many points as the #25 song... and so forth. |

| Giving the lower tracks more points would just make it even more crowded. The fact is, the only reason the tracks at the top aren't crammed in is because they've had loads of votes. The tracks at the bottom haven't had enough votes, and whether or not giving more points to lower ranked tracks won't change this. |

How about you tally the rankings under both schema and see which looks better? I still contend that the new method will be more correct and balanced. But in the end, it is your poll. :p |

i second this. people had their time to vote, and clearly more time won't help much. just post the list, it's not like it's extremely important. |
