So in spirit of the Olympic Summer Games in Athens I've decided to start this thread that will be dedicated to the subject. :D Here we can discuss all things related to the wonderful event that is Olympics. :happy2:
The first day of competition is now over and here is the current medal count : http://sports.yahoo.com/oly/medals
The American swimmer Michael Phelps already got a new world record and won his first gold medal. If anyone saw the race, the guy was in front of everyone by a mile, it was wild. And Iraq beat Portugal in soccer 4-2 :stongue: :wtf:
Our Canadian athletes did pretty well, especially in rowing! It's a shame that a lot of the pairings of our athletes were against the top seeded competitors. I have to say that i'm pretty pissed off at some of the broadcasting...like when a top seeded swimmer did badly and failed to advance to the next round...was almost crying on TV...the guy asks him - "so what went wrong" :wtf: :wtf: like seriously...the guy didn't even know what to say...i feel so bad for him. But he'll have another chance :D
Anyway...discuss! :D |

Yeah...so many competitions are already over that's crazy :p
And yes so far no medals for Canada but they are doing not bad at all so far.
The Chinese are going wild indeed...so many medals just after one day :D:D:D but I think 2 of them were from shooting so it's not so special :disbelief |

Hehe, last olympics, sweden kinda sucked and everyone who were supposed to take gold missed it, and so suddenly a day some totally unknown guy took gold in some totally unknow shooting sport... and suddenly that guy was a national hero... lol... and the number of kids who started to shoot increased by like 5000% or something :p
don't know why you would be interested in knowing that but i thought i might share :p
btw, my mum was in the swedish national team in shooting some 300 years ago :toocool: so no about shooting, best sport ever :stongue: |

Wow!! Did you watch that??? There was a woman that was from Turkey and she set a new world record twice! She only weighed like 105 pounds, but she was lifting something like 92.2kg!! I was so impressed!
The syncronized diving was very cool to watch as well as the beach volleyball, and every other sport that I watched today....you're right stereoprincess, the Olympics are SO ADDICTTIVE!! |

Ya I think that there are a lot of new events this year......I heard something like they are also having womens wrestling for the first time this year too or something like that.
I don't usually watch the summer olympics, buy I found myself watching for the majority of the day. |
