Yep. Which brings me back to Adagio. William Orbit sampled it and put his name as the original artist. Tijs did the same thing, with credit to Samuel Barber as the original composer in the 'Just Be' case, and he receives an ass-load of heat for not titling it Samuel Barber - Adagio for Strings (DJ Tiësto Remix). It's all because he's number one. Every DJ voted number one will have to go through all of this criticism, and it's quite undeserved.
Aside from that, I'm really happy this is getting released. I'll be hunting a copy down for myself for sure. |

The difference is that Adagio has become public license and the copyright has expired...or something like that |

That's all that anybody has said. I doubt Blackhole or anybody would really advertise/publicize the release. I've been keeping a look out on the sites a lot. |

whatever though. As a whitelabel i'm sure there is some kind of process or bypassing of the law which is why so many remixes (not just this one from tiesto) get past even without artist permission.
If there wasn't - the whitelabels wouldnt come into existence would they... if not from Tiesto fearing a legal battle to the actually pressing plant - maybe they'd not wanna be involved if they could be sued for making it. That makes me think there must be a loophole somewhere that makes making white labels legal. |
There's no loophole that makes it legal, but as they are white labels there are usually no contact details whatsoever. Thus it's almost impossible for the labels to try and sue anyone since they don't know who did the white labels in the first place. |

Honestly though how hard could it be to trace the trail back to where they came from.... the website got them from the distributor, who got them from X, who got them from Y shop who pressed them, who got the DAT from etc....
Anyway, who cares! Whatever we say here will not effect the pressing of this or probably any white labels... and I, for one, do enjoy white labels... help me to buy more music!

yeah but we could open a whole can of worms as to why he didnt title it like that.
BUt its purely logical to me - U have a classic piece thats now not bound to anyone by copyright.
William Orbit interprets it his way.
Tiesto interprets it his way.

the way anyone can bring Ferry Corsten into it is impossible to me. As he remixed tune 1... why do we have to say William Orbit - Barbers Adagio (TIesto Remix)... he didnt remix william orbits song.
Further more - why didnt anyone argue that it should be called Tiesto - Barber's Adagio For STrings...
i imagine that they cut the barber bit out to make it sound better.

i agree - given the right investigation there would be some record of who presented the DAT to the pressing plant... and voila.
The only thing then is in court - would it stand up or not? As there is no proof on the records of the Mr X... the only evidence would be a receipt from the process u explained. |

Why dont you guys save yourself time and money and go buy Street Spirit (Oakenfold Remix).
Tiesto is 2-3 years late with this one. Tiesto's mix sounds almost the same as Oakeys. |

Vlad, you mean: Wonky Vs. Radiohead - Street Spirit (http://www.discogs.com/release/120046). Some have it... but still, I think the Tiesto Remix would be nice to have in the collection as well. :)

Sorry but it sounds absolutely NOTHING like the Wonky mix whatsoever apart from the obvious guitar riff and vocals. It's much more tough and trancy than the Wonky/Oakey mix.
Will be playing later on tonight's RiseFM show (starts 21:00CET) if you fancy checking is just to make sure ;) |
